Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hey everyone. Been lurking around on the RPF for a while now and can't believe it's finally open to register! I'm just another geek who loves making something awesome from nothing. I am amazed at so much of the stuff a lot of you guys make and I'm hoping to learn from you all. Thx.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

I am James Wesley Roberts Jr. Being medically retired, I have time to do what I want to do - design lighting effects. Much of what you have seen recently from VoodooFX has my fingerprints on it. I rather enjoy custom work. If you have a project in mind that needs lighting, talk to me.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hey everybody :D

I'm really happy to finally be able to join the RPF. I've been visiting the RPF for a long time and hope to be able to get some feedback from you guys :)
I haven't really made a lot of props but I'm really exited to try it out :D

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hey Everyone - I'm Chris. I'm an Industrial Design Major looking to build some props in my (very limited) spare time and hopefully build up a bit of a portfolio. I'm hoping to end up working at imagineering if all goes well and i keep working my tail end off!

Right now I'm working on an ESB Boba Fett bucket and a custom lounge chair based on the Star Trek Captain's Chair and the Eames Lounge. That's all for now!

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hey there, I'm David and I've been lurking for a couple months, hoping to learn alot.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hello and good day. I feel guilty, I was given the site address to see the aluminium Falcon model, (my first visit) and since I liked the forum I joined. No waiting. Sorry to hear many have been having to be treated like red headed step children and made to wait it out. I feel bad, but not too bad. :)

I'm not much of a builder, used to be ok but was never really good (esp at painting) even when I was younger. Pretty much just a collector now. Latest example is I have reserved edition #119 of the replica of Serenity from the Firefly series built by Firefly shipworks. That will be the most serious model in the collection. Looking forward to seeing all kinds of stuff here as well.

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hey everybody! I appreciate the opportunity to finally join this fine forum. I've been an avid follower of this site for quite some time now, and have been inspired by alot of your collections and of the level of skill that many of you have. I don't typically participate in on-line communities, but this hobby has become a true passion of mine and I hope to get to know you all. Thanks!

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Greetings. I'm Fresno. I collect props related to film noir and in particular films based on the works of Hammett and Chandler. I'm a big Maltese Falcon buff and always on a quest for a more accurate replica of the rara avis.

I also, by trade, am a firearms builder. I customize and replicate various types of weapons.

Hi from Utah. Like a few people I have been lurking for a while. It's pretty great to see all the talent in this forum!

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi everyone,

My name is Clark and I've recently renewed my interest in prop collecting after a taking a hiatus from the hobby a few years back. Like most of you, I enjoy star wars and some of the more obscure props from sci-fi and fantasy. I used to be an avid member of this board for years under the username arkangel but was unable to re-register under my old name. (EDIT - I'll follow up with a moderator to see if I can correct this following the registration period)

I'm very happy to be returning to the RPF as it has brought me a lot of joy and introduced me to a great number of artisans and collectors that share my passions.

Cheers,
Clark

Re: *** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here!

Hi all,

I'm a prop and modelmaker from the UK whos been lurking for a while. I freelanced for a couple of years in London working on projects for the Royal Shakespere Company, ITV and the BBC. I started my own Props and Modelmaking business about a year ago. Please take a look at my site www.standingstonestudios.com for a little taster of some of the projects I've made recently.

Similar story to most really, grew up on Star Wars and LEGO and never looked back, been modding and making ever since. Spent 3 years at the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester in the UK, gained a 1st Class BA (hons)degree in Modelmaking.

The pic below is one of my most recent finished pieces. It's a Transformers prop maquette made from and old motorola phone. I'm currently working on a Stargate Ribbon Device.

Anyway enough of that, it's an honour to be here and wonderful to finaly be able to participate with this wonderfully active community.

Cheers

Pete

Hello all,
I'm the founder of a 3d printing company called Moddler. We do really high resolution 3d printing, including a bit for film art departments. I come from a visual effects background as a founder of a company called Giant Killer Robots. We were around for about 10 years and worked on a bunch of films including What Dreams May Come, the Matrix sequels,Blade: Trinity and The Fountain. I'm hoping to answer any questions you guys may have about the technology and just check out all the amazing work here.

And thanks to BrundelFly for letting me know about open enrollment!

Cheers!
