Pirates#4
- how was this worse than #2 and #3? seemed okay to me.
I think the one thing missing was that Jack Sparrow, or really any of the other characters had no need to live forever, if I remember? They all just wanted to. It was missing that drive / intensity of whats stake if they don't get to the fountain of youth. Also a step down on the epic story from Pirates three. I enjoyed it like you though.
Indy#4
- hitchhiking on a submarine, falling from a plane, invisible bridges . . . why is the nuked fridge so different?
I haven't thought this one at as much as the others, but Temple of Doom may have iconic scenes, but at least in Indy 4, Shia isn't screaming in Indy's ear every five seconds. They were all campy films, and I think this was the first time a majority of people had seen Indiana Jones since kids. Everybody knows the character, but how many films have they seen? Do they even like silly adventure movies with action and humor?
Personally, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade may be better movies, but they have a ton of more slow moments where as Indy 4's pacing is tight for re-watchibility. By the way, that nuke fridge scene with the empty town is so twilight zone and creepily awesome.
Get ready for Indiana Jones five hate.
Transformers#2
- okay, I didn't really like it. but I don't understand why people liked the first one and not the 2nd.
In the first movie you cared for Sam because he was kind of a dork and a loser in the school scene. Everybody likes a story of the outcast getting the hot popular babe at the end. He does kind of be a dick to his only friend, but in Sam's defense, his friend was climbing trees.
Not only does Sam have to deal with his social life but it becomes a fish out of water movie when he has to deal with robots. You feel as an audience member that the world is at risk. You relate to the solders at war, or Sam who are just as freaked out about these aliens just popping up out of no where.
Also its just edited so well on the pacing, humor and action. Dialogue and characters are another thing though :lol
Now with the 2nd movie, having all these Robots around its not as special. The world knows. If Sam flunks out of college he can still do something with his car. Sell it? Rob banks? Show it off at shows, if it doesn't mind.
The fun part of the movie is seeing him in college trying to fit in, as he may have helped save the world before but he's just another guy trying to rise in popularity or with the babes. But you didn't come to see Sam in a college school movie, you came to see him help some how save the world from not getting destroyed again. This time its just boring because you don't care whats going on as much, you know Sam is going to win in the end. You lose the humor half way through and it becomes serious business. And serious isn't as fun to watch unless that's what it was meant to be a thriller / horror.
