MattyCollector "Mattel Hoverboard" discussion

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. It's amazing that no one has found that board yet.

I've probably gone through thousands of vintage boards and can't find anything close. It could have just been a random local purchase like Marty's jean jacket for all we know. I may reach out to anyone leftover from Valterra to see if they can shed any light on it since they provided boards for the films and got the licensing to make skate decks for the films, including a replica No Tech.

And as for the pics, that's what my membership in the "Lots of Hoverboard Folders Club" gets me. :lol

Is there anywhere in the USA that sells the velcro I can't find it anywhere???

I bought my Duragrip brand sew-on (meaning it doesn't come with adhesive attached) hot pink and neon green from hookandloop.com: Hook and Loop COLORS There is a 25-yard minimum order for each color though.

If you're willing to butt together multiple strips of the pink to get the 1.5" (approximate) width, which is actually screen-accurate, you could also get it (along with the green as well) from here: http://www.wardrobesupplies.com/categories/sewing/fasteners/velcro

I actually just ordered some from there as well so that I can compare the Duragrip brand stuff from hookandloop.com to the Velcro brand strips from wardrobesupplies.com.

I took the pics 2006 when I was at Planet Hollywood in Dubai. Looks like one of the boards with the foto type finish however it has some green velcro here and there and that prismatic tape sticking to it instead of the pink velcro. Is there any scene in the original script, askign for such an FX?

Wow. Hard to believe that material was applied. I still don't think it was applied by thr production crew. Sure, they varied a bit on the construction of each board, but NO OTHER board that has survived or that was seen on screen had that material on it, as far as I know.

Now we know what happened with the Hoverboard with the yellow rollers from the tunnel scene.

The board with the black rollers may have been used by the little girl in the very first Hoverboard scene, where the Hoverboard itself isn't visible.

There is also another hoverboard with black rollers that can be clearly seen on the movie.
Before the tunnel chase, when doc lowers the DeLorean to road level and Marty goes from car to car on the hoverboard, when you see him with the camera from Biff's car, you an see the black rollers. (can't upload a screencap right now)

Well, seems I have been edited off the Matty Hoverboard pages. Hit it too close with the logic and back up proof of facts and information.

It's like dealing with an AAA member who just can't get past that first step of admitting they are wrong. I have no hope for the future of Matty when they do something like this.

They really make my blood boil over there. I was banned there last week for an angry yet fair argument made on a thread I started. I find it really infuriating and unethical that Matty tries to control the message the way they do. They love to sweep legit grievances under the rug like a crooked politician. I'm glad I found this forum where these things can be discussed.

i also got banned for making a comment , just goes to show what theyre like there , i can imagine that scott fella showing his boss the forum" look boss everyone loves it i did good boss"

I actually have no clue how I haven't been banned yet.

Maybe it's because I called legal the last time I saw an issue. (When they wouldn't let people get refunds) :lol

...then again, maybe I'm just lucky. Knock on wood.

Yet I'm still allowed to post. Someone at Mattel must like me...

If they would actually read my posts instead of responding in such short, clipped ways, they'd see I don't want to seek a refund, I just want some communication.

But I guess that's asking too much from a multi-billion dollar corporation.

I think everyone wants simple answers, but there ignorance clearly gets people's back up...... We have your money now get stuffed we don't care. At no point do I see any reply of care or apology...... Just if you don't like it then tough.

On another note has anyone in the uk had there's on the standard delivery yet, I usually having my goods within 10 working days, I'm on 12 now

Google Hoverboard reviews and look at the first 10 pages, just about all negative. I don't think there is too much else to say at the time other than to knock down the "Baghdad Bob quotes" Scott and the admins continue to make claims to. But it is not really sticking for them at this point. Really now, it is if Mattel corporate will take a real notice and make sure future products do not take the same path this did. I REALLY hope they correct the issue on the GB goggles, but it is a 50 / 50 proposition right now. They seem to be entrenching in with the current mentality and culture at Matty which is a shame to see.

And again, MC Don responds without reading my post.

I hate to tattle, but now that he's said that any further postings will get me banned over there, time to call Matty directly and talk to someone above him.

EDIT: So, 1-877-GO-MATTY (Digital River) says that it's an internal communications issue with Mattel and had me call 1-800-524-TOYS, who then in turn tell me that since it's a Matty Collector product and that they can't help me and I'd have to call 1-877-GO-MATTY. I think that about sums up the communications issues right there.

Still haven't gotten mine. No record of anything between Atlanta and my city since 12/10. I've emailed the Matty CS department and they said pretty much to call the USPS to find out where it is. Their Customer Service sucks. I'm going to institute a charge back on my Credit Card if this doesn't get resolved soon. Based on the reviews maybe I'm better off never getting it.

Go for it! It seems to have worked when they initailly refused to let customers opt out of the pre-order. It's unbelievable that trolls actually run the Matty forums and the rational posters are banned for telling it like it is.

And after calling Digital River AGAIN, i was at least given this bit of clarification: The message boards are moderated entirely by Mattel and Digital River has nothing to do with them. They only handle the shipping, refunds, and can give out product info.

So I went back to Mattel, and they told me that "Matty Collector" is a strange internal group that no one within Mattel Proper has any idea about. No contacts, no names, no information. It's like a bubble within the larger corporation...leaving them basically unaccountable.

Sure explains a lot.

It's also worth noting that of the 5 people I spoke to, every last one of them said they had been dealing with a lot of angry fans over the board. So it doesn't seem that this is as isolated as Matty Collector would have us believe.
