Limited Run Luke's ROTJ Static Yuma/ISYHCANL/Hero Variations Kit Parts Run (Sign up closed/In Production)

Does anyone know the size of the control box triangle plate screws? Lost one, found it, and lost one again but didnt hear it hit the ground so pretty much planning to just order a bunch online if I can.
Hey, Sorry. It's just turned morning here in the UK. BRRogers was absolutely spot on. They're M1.4 X 3mm (0.3mm pitch). Purchased through Accu: Buy M1.4 x 3mm Slotted Countersunk Screws (DIN 963) - A2 Stainless Steel | Save 81% | 500,000+ Components | Accu® They have a US site too. I've found them to be really good. They produce pretty much any size fixing you might need.

Are you guys using satin for the black? I need to find the copper paint as well, not sure what ill use yet.
Personally, I'll be going with Matt black. As for the neck, if I were in the US, I'd go with Ace Antique Gold. Bit more complicated in the UK unfortunately as Ace isn't available. I ended up using a fairly close substitute last time, then airbrushing copper over the top until it was closer to the colour used on the original. I quite like the look of Halfords Nissan Gold too. Definitely check out Halliwax 's Hero finishing thread! It's a goldmine.

When are you thinking of doing the 2nd run mate.?
Hey.

The second run is definitely going to go up in the next week or so. I'm just working out a few things first if that's ok. The structure of the second run is going to be slightly different. I'm thinking of just offering the Hero in kit form (minus the spare/unused parts). I'll also be allowing people to order the body/Yuma Box/ISYHCANL box separately, for if they're planning on building the Yuma or ISYHCANL. I'm still waiting on some quotes before I can post anything up as I haven't got my head around the pricing yet. I'm looking in to having the triangles for the hero box manufactured along with the buttons. These were all made by hand this time around and it proved to be a LOT of work.

The price won't be much different, so no worries there. These were never about making a profit. I just need to make sure that if I do go ahead, I'm not making a loss.

I should have it all figured out soon. I need to get a few images made too before I can get the run posted.

I'm still dealing with the first run at the moment though, along with my day job, so things have been very hectic.

It's going ahead though, and it won't be long.

Thank's for your patience.

If anyone ends up with an extra hero box, just the box part, and wants to sell it let me know. Broke a drill bit off in the tiny hole trying to drill it deeper...having terrible luck with my build, lol.

Oh crap! that sucks! Is there any of it protruding that you could grab with a pair of snips/scissors? If not, maybe you could grind the screw down, and glue the head in place? Sorry you're having bad luck with it. Hope the rest of the build goes more smoothly for you!

Afraid not, it was already super low in the hosing so no room to really drill it out. I debated cutting the screw down but I dont trust myself since there isnt a lot to grab on to...afraid itll go flying. If I can find another I might just try and hand file them down vs drill the box. WORST case I just go ISYHCALS instead of hero if I have to.

Its all me though, this is by far the best run ive ever been on in terms of your communication, attention to accuracy, and quality of parts. Too much pressure on myself to do it perfect which usually means mistakes, lol.

Just an idea, but could you maybe screw in to the plate and then file down the screw from the other side? They're so small, maybe a pair of snips could sheer the head off? I've sent you a spare set of screws in the mail anyway, so they should be with you soon hopefully. Good luck! (y)

Hey Dave, is it that the body of the screw is too wide? So the hole needs to be made wider? or the screws are too long?
I thought they just screw into the void space of the box?
Am i missing something?

I don't know if it's that the holes aren't deep enough, or that they just weren't tapped deep enough? I couldn't get the screws to go in as far as I'd like personally. I found that drilling the hole a little deeper fixed it. It was a fraction of a mm, but I just found that they were a little too proud of the plate when screwed in as far as they'd go. The holes are bellow the bottom of the inside of the box, so go in to solid aluminium.

Just in case anyone's missed it, I just posted on Halliwax's Hero painting thread.

Bit early to recommend it yet, but this certainly looks promising for those of you in the UK:

I've ordered a can anyway. I'll let you know how it goes! (y)

*Final Update*

So... this run is drawing to a close. I'm in the process of writing up the blurb for the next run of these, which should be landing some time later today.

In preparation for the next run, I've been getting a few shots of the parts before I get to work on building my own. I'll be posting a thread detailing how I get on with that too (maybe later today). I'll be building both the Hero and Yuma.

I just want to thank everyone who got in on this and made it happen, and everyone who contributed to the design process too!

I'll just leave you with a few pictures of the final contents of the kit:

*Update*

Hi everyone. Just a little heads up. The small emitter grub screw is proving a little tight for some people. Mine went in ok, but it was certainly a tight fit. The hole is 2.3mm and the grub screw is an M2.5, so it *should* self tap. A couple of people have reported having difficulty though, so you may want to loosen the hole up slightly with a 2.3mm (or maybe even a 2.4mm) drill bit before screwing it in.

Just something to bare in mind. Sorry if this is an inconvenience to anyone. It's something I'll take in to consideration for the next run.

Cheers,

Dave

No issues for me with the grub screw, and I just tapped the 8-32 one. Im having a bit of trouble getting my triangle ring completely closed though. Ive tried hammering it against wood but I dont want to go heavy and deform it.
