Limited Run ROTJ Leia blaster's flash hidder - aluminium and steel, not idealized!

Hey there,

Quick little project :)
A couple customers asked me if I could do a few more ROTJ princess Leia flash hidders like I did last year. Those are modeled after a super nice reference and are not idealized at all, every ridge is of different thickness and has been painfully machined after my precisely made plan.
I joked last year that I require a huge concentration to do this and I'm speaking out loud the measurements in my workshop when I machine the ridges, only way to get them perfect :)

I have added a bunch of those on my website with different attachement sizes and a custom one if you require something special for your blaster.
For the custom size, please leave a message at order with the threads size you require. Please choose a regular imperial or metric size, nothing too crazy please!

The ones that are already threaded are 32€ + shipping. Custom thread sizes are 35€.
Get them while they are available, only 6 of those made in this batch, small run!

I hope this helps :)
cheers all

There are only 6 in this batch, if a size you want sells out or something, just get in touch, I can re-arrange the stock or make a few more, no worries!

We are discussing with Darthwilder and trying to make it happen for a thread size that will fit real margolin. More early next week :)

Hi,
I have added the steel version and another size of aluminium version. Those are threaded for M10x0.75 lefthanded. This is intended for real Margolins with a threaded extension at the end of the barrel and for the Blaster Factory replicas.

It hasn't yet been verified yet and I'm waiting for the first customer for confirmation. Please don't choose this if you aren't sure it will work either. I'll write here when the fit is confirmed. thank you :)

Please contact me if you have questions, if something runs out or if you need a different size, I'll do my best to help :-
cheers all

Hey there,
Got confirmation a minute ago that the new steel version (m10x0,75 LH) fits perfectly on a real Margolin, so that's awesome and ready to go if more people wanted this :)

Waiting for confirmation it also works for blaster factory, I'll post there when I know.
Cheers

Just in, got confirmation the new part fits on the blaster factory replica too :)
Of course, the blaster factory part is awesome as it is if you want a clean look. My offering is only if you are looking to get something completely wonky that mimics the original flash hidder, it's a certain look for sure!
Cheers all :)

Looking amazing! feel free to make a quick description of how you achieve this if you want :)
Sure! First I soaked the flash hider in acetone to remove any oils (and also soaked some 00 steel wool for the same reason). It's important to use clean nitrile gloves during each step to avoid contaminating the metal with any oils or dirt.

I used Brownells rust blue solution and applied the first thin coat with cotton swabs. For the first rust cycle only, wait one hour and then reapply.

After a reddish orange rust develops, place the piece into boiling water for 20-30 minutes. Remove from boiling water and flash dry with heat gun or hair dryer in order to prevent water spots.

There will be a thin coat of black oxide "velvet" that will need to be lightly carded off using the de-greased 00 steel wool.

Keep repeating the whole process (minus the 1 hour reapplication) until you achieve the desired finish. When final coat was done, I sprayed it with WD-40 to remove all water and chemically bond the oxide coating. Then I wrapped the flash hider in tin foil to soak with WD-40 overnight. The next day, I wiped it down and applied gun oil to seal the finish.

This was my first time using rust blue. I wanted a durable finish that resists gun solvents, oils, etc. in case I decide to use this flash hider on a live-fire Margolin. A side note: I also rust blued a Margolin barrel afterwards and achieved a deeper finish by preparing the metal beforehand with 00 steel wool before applying the first coat of rust blue.

Wow super impressive and great workflow!
