I've only seen a few clips from that behind the scenes footage on the Ep. 3 DVD extras. Some of it was over the top though some of it was quite good. I'm guessing they omitted Anakin lifting and dropping Padme because it would be deemed too violent, and or would have called into question how the twins would have survived her falling like that?

It's cool to see what could have been. It was unnecessarily long in places but I really did enjoy the more fencing types of thrusts we see when they're balancing on the pipe and some of the camera work was more dynamic than what ended up in the final cut of the movie. Thanks for linking it.

This is so exciting because it brings me back to being a teenager and all the internet rumors of this scene happening

I can not believe it’s real and I’m seeing this for the first time almost 20 years later…

Insane

(y)Anakin vs obi wan behind the scenes.
Go figure right

Thank you very much buddy, have i mentioned how excited I am?

Yeah I found a lot of it too over the top but I did like some of the fencing moves Psab mentioned and the additional violence toward Padme would've at least made her death make more sense (as long as they also omitted the ridiculous "broken heart" angle). Medical droid: "Broken heart?! No, it's her neck. She has a broken neck..."

What's real crazy is that part where they like stab the lightsaber into each other? That would have been interesting to see.
Yeah, I love the scene where Obi almost cuts his anakins head off and ani like bitch slaps his lightsaber away lol

Anakin looks so dark and possessed!! I can totally see why Lucas changed this

So dark!!

Dude for so long I’ve heard this story! I can not for the life of me believe it was real!!

The move with Kenobi kicking Anakin's saber out of his hand and dual wielding it, and the table getting ripped from the ground as Anakin flips out of the way was quite cool. I like seeing them disarmed and using the Force to throw things at one another. The camera work and cuts really gave it some energy. Anakin is clearly the aggressor in this version and Kenobi is on the defensive which I think is way more evocative of their characters than some of the final cut.

There was still a lot of scenes where they repeat the same move over and over which feels like padded choreography to extend the run time, but some of those shots were truly dynamic and interesting, all while clearly showing the action with much better camera work that expressed the emotion through the action. I wish some of them made it into the final cut. Like the close up of Anakin using the Force to bring an object from behind Obi-Wan to knock him out, it suggests some strategy which is pretty cool. Something lost in a lot of fight choreography, where you would use your environment to your tactical advantage. Thanks Halliwax and Joek3rr for posting these!

Yeah it seems George really cut some good stuff out of the fight. Awhile ago the the stunt coordinator, oh gosh, what's his name now? Oh yeah, Nick Gillard. Anyways he said that Obi-Wan cutting off Anakin's limbs was much complicated and involved, and not the silly flip thing we got.

I had not heard that about the limb amputation part! That's really interesting. It looked pretty stupid as it was presented. I wonder why on earth George would change that?

Man some pieces of this have been in some of the BTS over the years, but it’s so cool to see everything in the correct context! Some really cool concepts they were playing with. Makes me want to go make a another fan film. Or just add the lightsaber rotoscoping to this footage for kicks haha

The flip thing did always look odd
