I feel like every time the government goes away there's a likelihood the dating system resets. I personally hate the BBY/ABY thing the EU took from real world references dating events relative to the original film. I feel like Empire Day would be the most recent zeroing. Then the establishment of the new Republic (if they didn't just undo the Imperial interruption and resume the Old Republic numbering). I don't know that I'd peg the destruction of the Hosnian system as a new zero point, but we have yet to see what now comes after the end of Republic, Empire, First Order -- all of it.

I've been writing a breakdown about how my view of the story and characters of the OT has changed over the last 40 years. I was babbling about it to my wife and daughter (she rolls her eyes every time I bring it up) when my daughter suggested I make a video about it. I haven't done any creative filming in 2 years so I'm kind of itching to do something (my 1800s superhero project is on hold). I've never done stop motion before so I'm thinking about using her vintage action figures rather than actual scenes to avoid copyright issues. (it would also be fun!) This won't touch on the PT, ST or the EU, more of an examination of how perception of entertainment and nostalgia changes over time.

Sounds fun and interesting! I'd love to see it!

1800's superhero project?! How do I convince you to tell me more?!

It's something I've been writing and story boarding for a few years. Probably 5 episodes at 6-7 minutes each. It's going to take considerable time and money to get all the props, costumes and sets made, being a period piece complicates it. We're hoping to get started filming late summer and have the series done in 2021.
We did our first series when I was self employed so I had a lot more flexibility in my work schedule, right now all the "actors" and myself are working 50+ hours a week on a construction project that runs until 2024, so it's going to be a bit of a long term endeavor.

So Christmas has come and gone. And the new year is here!

So guys and girls, did you get anything Star Wars for Christmas?

Got a New Year resolutions to finish building something?

I got from my wife, a "Jedi" bath robe. Reminds me of wh when I was kid playing Jedi in my bath robe

And this year, I hope to finish my custom lightsaber!

So I can't remember if i posted this yet. So apologies if I have.

Last year Lucasfilm had a droid design contest. While I didn't win, I wanted to share my design. He's called LK-7.

I just hooked up my new 50" 4K Fire TV and guess what the first thing I am currently watching?

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition 2.0

Picture and sound quality is FANTASTIC, crisp 4K image and amazing bass. This is the best home viewing I've had of the film!
I rewatched thebsame thing last week and it looked much darker than I remembered, the probe droid for example looked like a black blob with hardly any visible details. But then again it may be my TV giving up cuz I find loads of films quite dark.
What struck me is how well that movie is lit and how long single takes of dialogue go on with camera moving around. It's like it wss made by a filmmaker who knows scenes instead of shot-reverse shot dialogues.

Close enough. I got AAAAAAAAAAAAIDS!!!!

Bandai X-wing has been on my shelf for ages so that'll have its time soon. I think this year will be other models, got a Delorean and a Terminator HK planned and not much SW models that I'd start on. Maybe the big Bandai ISD if I can get one...

And this year, I hope to finish my custom lightsaber!
What state is it currently in?

Cosmetics are all finished. Just working on acquiring the electronics. I've been wanting a neopixel for some time, so that's what I'm going to go with. Just gonna put a NB v4 in there, but with two switches, I can always upgrade to something better in the future.
Very nice, restrained and elegant design. It's its own thing while incorporating many familiar elements from all across the board. Great job!

I found Waititi's episode to be a jarring change in tone from it's predecessor. While I like Thor Ragnarock a great deal I really want a director who knows how to make Star Wars cool again. I'm really tired of the formula action beat-forced joke-action beat-forced joke-action beat.

Directors need to go back and watch some 80's films again.

Edit: to be honest there's no point in making another SW film until the LFL story group is dissolved and KK is fired.
