I feel sorry for her. Just another being for some to tear into.
I don't. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. It was her decision to go ahead with filming on Jurassic Park /// after Joe Johnston threw away the script that caused that movie to bomb and sent the franchise to the Universal backburners for 14 years. Now she's making the same poor decisions with Star Wars and I have no sympathy left for her.

I was thinking about Michelle Rejwan.

And anyways I'm reading praise for what Kathy did on that film....

DreamWorks CEO Stacey Snider says she experienced Kennedy's competence back in 2000, when, as chairman of Universal, she was weeks away from the start of filming on Jurassic Park 3, with $18 million already spent: "I was in New York, and my phone rang, and as my foot stepped into the crosswalk, Kath said: 'Steven and [director Joe Johnston] aren't happy with the script. We're going to pull the plug.' And by the time I got to the other side of this wide boulevard, she had told me what the plan was, how the $18 million would be rendered productive, how they would fix the script and restart the movie. It was from one curb to the other -- something horrible happened, and there was a solution."

Just came across this. Not sure how true it is.

As of now, the story is three hours old. I did a news search and no one else has picked it up as of yet. I would think if it was true, there would be some other reports,

After the failure if TLJ and it back lashing onto Solo I'm not sure why Kathleen is still president of Lucasfilm. She is the overseer of those films and allowed to let the crap in The Last Jedi happen. I'm surprised Disney has not stepped in yet. I dare to say that Star Wars is like at least in the top 3 most popular franchises that Disney owns and to sit back and let Kathleen crap all over it and loose money at the box office is shocking.

I really tried to like TLJ on opening night. I even told everyone it was a good movie. Well time has let it sink in and has affected my opinion on the film. Star Wars is not suppose to be a reflection of the current trend in society and politics. No one goes to a fantasy movie to hear the film makers stance on war profitiering animal abusers, but instead a struggle with power and balance and action, good vs evil, the heros rise to power etc.

Star wars 1-6 will always be timeless movies because they use themes that are universal and do not rely on current trends. The original star wars trilogy uses an ancient style of story telling called the Heros journey. It's a basic concept that follows the hero from where he or she came from to his her victory against what ever evil they are fighting. That will always be a universal method of story telling across the time space continume(spelling). Why? Because it is pure fiction that does not draw inspiration from any non fictional event thus preventing it from being dated to it's time. It's pure fantasy in which anybody from any time can relate to especially kids. It's something they can get lost in and even day dream about being the hero and fighting the bad guy. It loses that timeless and relatable appeal once politics and current trends are interjected. It becomes less fantasy and more rooted in reality. We know reality will change so many years down the road it will no longer be relevant and relatable.

Star wars is about that fun journey and adventure through space and not ment to be used as a platform for politics and current trends.

Kathleen Kennedy can go screw her self.

Rogue One was fairly successful. Why was it? Because the whole premise was taken from the opening crawl of ANH. It followed that to a T with avoiding the political crap. It utuilized a simple concept and executed it perfectly with out thoughts and feelings, from Lucasfilm, clouding the crews judgments.

I've seen so many say R1 is their favorite Star wars film because it follows very closely to the OT by being simple and not allowing political bs be injected into the film..

Ah, my mistake. Yeah, she will be. :(

As for Kennedy, in reality, the script wasn't "fixed", in fact according to Sam Neill the day's shooting scripts arrived to the sets daily, in his words, still warm from the printers (this is from the "Return to Jurassic Park" docs on the 2011 Collector's Edition set). Maybe a bit hyperbolic, but at the same time, we know that the script was being written on the fly, trying to fit a story around sets and props that had already built with actors who had already been contracted. It didn't work, the movie bombed, and Universal became gun shy about green lighting another Jurassic Park movie until they were certain that it wouldn't be another flop. Kennedy said as much prior to Jurassic World being greenlit, back in 2012 or 2013. She said no Jurassic Park movie would be made until they were sure they had a good story.

EDIT: Producer Kathleen Kennedy Talks JURASSIC PARK 4, a 3D Re-Release for JURASSIC PARK, and the TINTIN Sequel

"A great script is what it’s gonna take to get a fourth Jurassic Park. We have a very high bar for ourselves because we’re just like the audience, we don’t wanna make the movie if there’s not a reason to make the movie. So we’ve kinda created the dilemma ourselves because it was never intended to be a franchise, so there’s an argument to be made ‘Why are you doing a fourth Jurassic Park?’ So we’ve gotta find a good reason for why we’re doing a fourth Jurassic Park and we’re in the midst of working on that right now.”

At one point during the fallout, there was consideration of devising an idea so terrible that it would effectively put the franchise in the hole for good instead of letting the franchise devolve into more dumb, repetitive storylines.. This is where the "Homocraptors" idea came in.

I LOVE R1, but to say that the OT isn't political is to ignore a huge amount of metaphor that was the OT.

Let's be careful not to devolve this into a debate over the politics in these films. I don't want anyone to get banned.

For my money Jurassic Park only needed one movie. Why they ever made a second much less 3-4 or however many more was beyond me. It's literally the same story over and over and over.

Also whether Kennedy leaves at the end of her contract in 2021 or leaves now makes no difference to me personally.

I've got go on a rabbit trail real quick.;)

So my mom loves Jurassic Park. Saw it like 3 or 4 times. And when she heard they were making a third one. She said it should have pteranodons be the new cool thing. And sure enough pteranodons were the big new thing that was all over the marketing. She was pretty pleased.(okay now I'm going down the rabbit hole... lol..... but in Jurassic Park 2 the T-rex runs right past a street where my aunt and uncle lived for awhile)

Okay back to Star Wars :)
