Back to Jaxxon. I just saw this. It been around for over a year but it’s the first I’ve caught wind of it. So it may be old news to some of you.

It appears that a being that appears to be a Lepi and clothed similar to Jaxxon was seen in an episode of Forces of Destiny.

So over on The Rise of Skywalker thread. Some of us were talking about how the Force works. Does it really control people? Are they just "puppets?" I wanted to share a few more thoughts. With the help of a couple illustrations.

I think that this is how some of you think the Force works. I believe that to be a incorrect way of looking at it.

I believe that this a more accurate illustration. This fits with what Obi-Wan says in ANH. And what George has said. The Force controls the sentient being. But at the same time the sentient being controls the Force. It's a symbiotic relationship.

With that all said, the Force clearly orchestrates everything that happens in the Star Wars universe. I just got done watching ANH on my "journey" to The Rise of Skywalker. In that film there is the wonderful scene of the binary sunset.

During that scene we Luke looking towards the horizon. His hope that he will get off the planet "that is farthest from" the bright center of the galaxy, wains as suns set. But we the audience know something that Luke doesn't. That the Force is at work. How do we know the Force is at work? Well simply it's the first time we hear the leitmotif for the Force. It's George and John's way of drawing our attention to the Force and what it's doing at that moment. Which is, in this case, is R2-D2 having escaped the Lars homestead. Setting motion Luke's adventure.

And while we are talking about music. ANH has my favorite piece of music of all the films. The variation of the Main Theme that is played when we are introduced to Luke, is hands down, without a doubt my favorite peice of Star Wars music.

I don't think it controls anyone. Otherwise why give people the ability to use it when the Force could just take control of avatars to do what they want? I think the only thing we see close to control is a Jedi using it to deflect blaster bolts. It helps you anticipate and then maybe aids you in movement to block them, but the Jedi is still doing the movement.

"...it controls individuals yet we have a free will..." - George Lucas

From my understanding, the Force "influences" the user. If you're untrained formally, you can still sense and use the Force, but it will be more on an instinctual level. For example, Broom Boy reached for the broom at the end of TLJ and the Force acted through him on an instinctual level: he wanted something and through the Force, he received it. It's the same way Luke used the Force to summon his lightsaber in the Wampa cave. The Force acts not only upon the body, but upon the mind as well, partially controlling the way you think. For example, a person who uses the Force for bad, will find that the Dark Side will "speak" to them more easily, ergo Yoda's spiel about the Dark Side being seductive. Somebody who steals and gets away with it will find it easier to do it again. The Dark Side works on that same impulse. Somebody who uses the Dark Side once will find it easier to do so again.

The nature of the Force and it's influence on individual characters was debated in The Rise of Skywalker thread. I don't know. It just seems unnecessary to rehash the topic in another thread.

The discrepancies and differences of opinion about the Force are part of what makes it more realistic. Just like any religion, there are different interpretations. Yoda, Qui Gon, Dooku and Obi Wan all had varying opinions about the prophecies. Obi Wan's opinion changed a couple of times. It's like the in universe pronunciation of character names. There's no right or wrong because, like in real life, people pronounce names differently.

The problem with canon is that things are supposedly set in stone (until another owner of the property comes along and changes it), whereas in real life things aren't so clear cut. Over time facts become blurred, romanticized, forgotten and reinvented. This makes the Force feel older and more real than of it were less ambiguous.

Star Wars is more realistic because of canonical "errors", not less.

"It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds the galaxy together."

As long as it does not contradict this line it can be used any way you (the writers) see fit.
The closer it feels to this original line however the better it will sit especially to us older children.

I feel the most practical way to view how much it controls v user control is the aforementioned symbiotic relationship laced with the kind of recognition we give to raw talent, I shall expand...

I have a skin too few, I am too sensitive, this flaw makes me quiet. Because I am quiet I observe. This quiet observation makes me appear talented at things I have interests in. It appears as raw talent but I simply know what not to bother trying to do. I lay somewhere between the next two extreme examples.

Some simply do have raw talent without much observation, singing for instance, balance for instance, (I could go on forever with this bit) this can be seen as genius but this is very unstable. Often they just feel gifted and feel they have less control and credit the Muse/Force/Universe.

Now some don't observe quietly or have unobserved talent and do wish they had certain specific talents, They need much more discipline and education but can still reach the same levels and they use technique as a step by step and therefore can control more thoroughly when successful.

Now put the word Force in front of the word talent in the above three examples if you get me.
Then also add the these three examples have an infinite number of degrees between each other and you can basically go back to defining it any way the writers see fit :)

It's practical use is like a talent/gift at one extreme end of the scale (Vader) and a technique to perfect with cautious study at the other (Kenobi), just like in real life :)

I strongly dislike the prequels, but my gosh TPM soundtrack is soo good. I also like the new movements in the latest trilogy.
