I like Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. I just think that type of thing belongs in the Disney Canon, not Star Wars. Even George couldn't pull off musical numbers in his films. Not that this addition to the park is guaranteed a sing along but really? A fake wedding? They both end up separated and their son dies along with both of them. Does anyone honestly want to witness their wedding ceremony, much less taking into consideration what happens to all of them?

If you were ever in doubt as to how clueless Lucasfilm is about its own IP, this is solid gold proof.

Yeah the N-1s are always oversized. And this one is particularly large. Kinda the limitations of minifigs. I think the original 1999 version is the closest to minifig "scale." But the cockpit is much too large. This is probably the best one they've made. But the cockpit is too small to fit a figure. 10026: Special Edition Naboo Starfighter
I have that set! It’s one of my all time favorites!

Star Wars has been about marketing from the get go, we all succumbed to it at one time or another. There used to be excellent story, well developed characters and good writing along with it though. I doubt fans would care as much about shameless marketing if those things still regularly occurred in new SW content. It would still be annoying but at least there would be good content to back it up.

You know the chances of them at least having Leia and Han walking around is too tempting for them to resist. They don't exhibit restraint in their storytelling, why would they show any in their theme parks?

I'm fine with marketing but this is just so incredibly lame. No one wants their fake cruise and they just keep sinking money into it now with a direct book tie in. I don't think any marketing can sell that cruise because it just doesn't work within this type of franchise, no matter how many books you write or exclusive merchandise you create for it. Some ideas are just bad ideas.

It was one thing that Lucasfilm under George could market products based on things from his films which fed the company and the business but the demand was built in because people wanted things from the stories they loved. Now they're writing stories to sell a product no one wants and an insanely expensive product at that.

There's a huge difference between those two approaches to marketing and treating them as if they're equal is misguided.

Yeah I wasn't heartbroken when the old EU was wiped out because a lot of it was pretty dumb...with the caveat that the Disney content better be topnotch and consistent. Well...that seems to not be the case... Lol. As silly as some of the EU was, I fail to see how the new content is any better. I'd just as soon kept the old stuff.

Remember when people used to say how lame some of the old Expanded Universe was? Well doesn't look quite so bad now huh?
