Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Awesome finds guys, the ID's in this thread are simply amazing.

Here's pics of the Esci 1/72nd Hanomag rockets launcher. I'm now positive this is the donor kit for the greeblies on the sides of the top turret. I think the actual rocket parts were added later during 'Empire'?.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Nice work Rod. Stu, drat. Not the right suspension parts. Defo the right rocket launcher though. I'm now thinking 251 but maybe HO scale for the suspensions. Anyway, congrats on a tricky find.

As to the era in which rockets were included, I think they were original.

Also, here's some more 1/24 Panther stuff.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Reminds me - Rod, yes I can scan the Ladder Chief chassis (which was ID'd early in the thread, I've just realised) but it's too big for my scanner so I will have to stitch it together. Something I've been meaning to get to.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Thanks for that Nwerke, you rock(y))
I use a combination of pics and scans to make stuff like this before I start cutting kit parts to put together a section:

PM with mail for the high reso version:cool

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Just found this part for one of the Maint Pits!

So the Saturns donets something more than just the capsule:lol

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

These mock ups you do are mega helpfull to not only the 5 foot builders but people like me as well. Helps a bunch working out the sizes I need to make my parts. Thanks very much.

While we are on the subject. Correct me if I am wrong, but the top and bottom jaw plates are the same yes? but the upper one has the addition of fuel cans at the front? And Rod is the line you have on your drawing, were the rear ends? If so I have made my AMT sized ones wrong! I have seen some cut off and others full length.

Thanks

Ozzy

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

gosh...I've seen tons of models, replicas and such...but the amount of details in this thing is amazing...(which is what makes it worth it, of course).

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Rod, nice find, we're killing those maintenance pits lately!

Ozzy, yes and no. They USED to be identical (and it is the same casting in the port rear upper maintenance pit), then the model was rebuilt for ESB. The FlaK and Panther parts were added to the lower jaw then.

Alnitak, that is the beauty of her! She's the queen of the coated-in-glue-and-rolled-in-kit-parts ships. :) (Aside from all the other SW ships equally worthy of that title, of course.)

Quick warning for us 5-footer newbies:
be really careful when taking kit parts off the trees. MANY of them retain small tags of sprue and some of them even seem to use them as spacers or details in their own right. Don't trim them closely when cutting them from the sprue as you would if building a kit!

There are even some parts with additional moulding points (those little circular tags that don't attach to a larger sprue) still in place. I'll post an example of what I mean later...

What are the Flack and panther parts. My AMT build will be ANH. I am thinking it should be as it was. Hmmmm is that being a bit "OC"? One falcon, three stages. Original ANH, TESB Refit, and as it stands today with missing parts.

Ahhhh man!! I think I a confused. LOL

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Rod, terrific find on the Saturn part, what an amazing eye you have. Yay, I have 4 of those somewhere. Oh, your'e very welcome for the Esci Hanomag scans mate.
Love yer mandible pics, it's just like a work of art to us nutters.

Martyn, yeah, I'd noticed that too with parts you need to watch with the trimming off the tree's. The Hanomag parts for the docking rings are a good example.

Man, this thread is rockin boys!:lol

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hi there Black Pig! Master of kit archeology:thumbsup
nice to see ya back in these waters!

About the scans, thanks for your words mates.
The whole inner mandible picture assembly is still missing to parts, one
i do not have, the Bandai 1/48 Kebelwaggen wheel and that rail thing
inside the 8 rad I do not know where it comes from :confused

Any help with scans or pics would be great, so we can have that section complete, at least for the mandibles because the pit section has some litle extra stuff.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hi Black Pig,

they are ammunition canisters for an 88mm. Same as the Tamiya 1/35 FlaK 88 parts (of course) but 20mm instead of 27mm high. Scan attached. It is good to see a superstar return to the thread! :)

Rod, I have scanned the chassis rails too, but must go offline - major electrical storm bearing down on us, I don't want my 'puter fried. :)

Cheers,
Martyn

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Rod, Martyn, Thank you for your words!:)

Rod, I attached Y-Wing neck pic. I think the part is same detail with MF mandible. Saturn, Hunting Tiger, KubelWagen(SchwimmWagen)...

Martyn, Is that sprue include the 8t HalfTrack kit, too ? I did not know. Thanks!:)

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Hey BP great to have you back! :)

As you can see the guys are ploughing through stuff like there's no tomorrow...and I have a ton of maps to update!

Martyn, as you have ID'd so many of the Bandai 1/24 G parts, would you be up for doing a set of casts? - I think with that and the Sealab courtesy of Jason and Mike that would go a long way to easing the financial impact on us mere mortals.

BTW I have an Aurora Valkyrie I can cast up if anyone needs one? - My next job in the house is finally the workshop, so I'm slowly getting there.

Cheers
Nick

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

Nick, absolutely, unless anyone beats me to it. I have a couple more parts to pin down before I start anything but you need two Panthers anyway - I don't really fancy buying another one. Hmmm, can I cast fender strips flexible enough to bend around the cockpit tube? We'll see!!

Ozzy, the tank-like Panther parts are storage containers, not fuel tanks, if I remember my armour lore - or have I got that reversed? Anyway, we're talking those trapezoidal boxes from the rear plate with the large X reinforcement stamped into them, and the shield pieces from one of the small FlaKs.

Re: Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's

PS Rod what did you mean by 'rail piece'...not the Harrow bit, right?

Black Pig, yep! It came with my halftrack. I haven't gone through the instructions yet so maybe it's an 'extra' of some kind. I compared against the M577 part to the right - the 20mm sized 1/48 part seems right.
