Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

I've definitely been cross-referencing other ANH-era model threads. There's a generous amount of information to take in around here. Plus the folks that maintain Studio Scale Modelers earn my thanks many times over. What a resource!

Recklessness and deep pockets... erm, wait, I think there might be a hole in mine! I am officially building the Falcon completely now. Having too much fun to stop - I caught the bug!

Spotted a couple randoms while waiting for more kits to arrive. I also think the Matilda has a few more that I need to verify when it gets to me.

Thanks for this Parts list guys...someday..Someday I may build one of these to scale..

However, Based on the provided info yoo gentelemen gathered, which kits in 1/72 scale would you recommend to someone attempting to re-do the MPC Falcon???

I'd already got the StuG III, Craig, but nice find with the Lee and Sheridan. The Lee's a new addition to the list, I think? :)

Beatlepaul, if you're asking which tank kits can be used to scale down from the full size? The answer is 'none', I think. The big Falcon is about 1/24 and uses mostly 1/48, 1/35, 1/24 and 1/15 armour kits.

The MPC is about 1/96 or four times scaled down, so you would need to find equivalent kits in the 1/192, 1/140, 1/96 and 1/60 ranges.

Incidentally this makes the Fine Molds about 1/144. :p

Well...scratchbuilding it is..geez, it's probably easier doing what you guys did(although a tad more expensive I suspect!)

Hey Craig, you are on fire with these ID's. Nice job. Will update all these as fast as I can.

Re that kit archive photo...gulp...that said, if I hadn't got alot of stuff from doing the Y-wing a few years back I'd never have seriously considered doing the the big Falcon. Even so I'm starting to wonder what the hell I've started here....

Thanks for the addtional pictures dbhs. Got some nice overview pics there.

Hey Craig, I looked through the Lee kit & I can't see anything that looks like the part/parts youv'e highlighted mate?. What sprue # parts you thinking?.
Gee, the Stug sure donates a heap of parts don't it?.

Good to hear your'e in it for the long haul Craig, I'm in too, way in too deep now to back out:lol. It will be a day long remembered when we finally do our hulls & get these darn donor parts on.

Kevin, thanks for your kit stash pic, Noice mate!. It's a typical SS kit stash stack that many of us are striving to achieve & thank goodness they're not all needed for the 5 footer.

Well, I pulled all the parts out of the Panther yesterday, my mandible parts bags now look healthier:lol, just waiting for the 2 Ferrari's next month.
Hey Martyn/anyone, are the Panther side skirts a donor for the underside rear undercarriage box, not too sure on these:confused?. They look like they could be.
Stu

Thanks dbhs, it will be great to go through those pics. :)

Sorry about any overlap, Martyn. I get on a roll and don't always go back through my IDs folder. But hey, I got another missing part! :lol

Stu, it's one of the backpacks on the figure sprue. Pic attached.

Craig

Here's a part from the cooler 32" falcon that was probably scratched to match a part on the 5 footer. It looks to be from a tiger or similar.

Now I'm even more confused Craig. The Lee I have has a sprue with a commander figure, but there's no backpack part there?. Did your kit have a separate figure sprue with this part mate?. Maybe I'm missing a sprue, but the kit was sealed when I got it, strange?.:confused
Stu

Hmm... I just opened this kit, too. There's a sprue with a date of 1974 and four figures on it.

There's a separate instruction page and a callout for figures on the box so we must have different issues of the kit? So... barring any actual tank parts, perhaps you could buy the Army Infantry pack by itself.

Craig

Wow, that's interesting. That flamethrower backpack from the figures was used. Those figures are the standard US 4 figure kit available separately back then also. It looks like it was just packed in with the Lee in this case.

Thanks chaps, I'll get the separate infantry pack at some stage, rather than getting another Lee & taking my chances.:unsure

Sure are. They're cut, though - the five-panel schurzen are cut into sections of two and three panels. A number of the Panther parts are modded, which is why I am moulding them - I figure not everyone will be too keen to cut and mod originals. These are on MF010 1.1, btw.

Nice find for the backpack, another kit for the list then.

Any hint which part you mean? Also, there were two 32" Falcons and one was cooler than the other? Both pieces of info are news to me.

:p :lol :behave

Wow... two 32" Falcons... That sure is news to me too!! :eek
Cool find on that 1974 M3 Lee Craig! (y)thumbsup(y))

I got my hands on some AMT models today, the Chevy Titan 90 which has some engine parts that are the same ones found on the American Lafrance fire truck!!, the ones that go on the port mandible.
I also got the White Freightliner truck but still need to check it out but I believe it may have donor parts for the Tantive IV rather than for the 5 Footer.
I found some other two AMT 1/25 Trucks but I do not know if they are needed for any Star Wars studio model:
AMT 1/25 International Transtar 4300 Eagle Tractor cab
and
AMT 635 FORD LNT 8000 DUMP TRUCK WITH SNOW PLOW KIT .

Anyone knows if this kits are of any use?

Guy's, all that Kbilly was describing is the part highlighted in green.
Nowhere did he say there were 2 32" Falcons made.
Stu

What he was saying was that the 32in Falcon is cooler than the 5ft Falcon..........BLASPHAMY! BURN THE HERETIC.....okay, maybe just ban him instead!
