Large scale Millennium Falcon Kit ID's**New Maps at start of thread**

Thanks Craig:cool I'll make some measures and clarify that Sherman as official part or not. By the way, you are right, the 3rd cylinder I ided it wrong, it is not from the 312B although I was not able to corroborate it if it belonged to the M23, but it is very likely to be from it.
Nice work going on here fellas:cool

OK, Stu. Take two: how about Tamiya Tiger I? Thank you for making me look again because I found another Tiger I piece on the same sprue. :)

you have the third cylinder marked blue in your image but I think it's from the McLaren?

Yup, McLaren, that kit has both types used on the MF.

OK, edited in the port side! I also have a theory that a Ferrari engine bit was at one point glued under the Sealab. No photo evidence, but the glue marks match perfectly. Hmmm...

Likely suspect. Unfortunately that part parted company with the model VERY early on. :(

What do you think about the piece also now missing from the *upper* edge of the same spot on the mandible? M8 dozer blade cut down, maybe?

NICE one. That missing bit has been bugging me. That's the 1/35 or the 1/25? Dammit, knocked one back last week!

Yep, looks good Craig, awesome find. Is it the 1/35th or 1/25th one mate?.:confused
Stu

It's the 1/35 Ausf. E. It also contributes this previously unmarked part. There are a lot of Tamiya Tigers so here's the cover to the kit I have.

Craig

Excellent work Craig! I knew that missing part was from a German tank but could never find the right one, you've nailed it mate:):cool. Some missing parts are really hard to ID, now I have to get that Tiger I.

Cheers Craig, thank goodness it's a 1/35 kit & not 1/25th, the bigger the kit, the bigger the price.
Stu

I got a bunch of photos of the 5-footer last week from the SW exhibit in Santa Ana. I'll zip them up and post a link here for anyone that wants a set. Probably nothing that hasn't been seen here before but you never know.....

It's ALWAYS good. So many different lenses, lighting conditions, condition of the case - you never know when a differently angled shadow will clue you in to something you've never spotted before. So, thanks in advance!!

Your photos will be much appreciated! There's always another angle that could help us. :thumbsup

That's a mantlet on the bottom of the port-side Entex rotary, right?
Yes and it's from the Centurion!

Posted this to another forum a few weeks ago, so I'll throw it in here for everyone wondering what kits they're going to need to actually build a 5-foot Falcon, since many have already been mentioned in this great thread.

Here's a goodly portion of what you'll need, anyway:

Click the pic for the original so you can read all the small print. ;)

There are a number of key kits hidden back there, unfortunately, and there's a whole extra column of the Bandai 1/48 stuff out of frame on the right, but let me know if you have any questions about those. There are a number of kits in storage elsewhere in the house, some of the other larger kits like the Airfix 1/24 Stuka and AMT 1/25 Ladder Chief.

Beaz, really appreciate that so don't take this the wrong way.

We currently have over a hundred kits listed. Every so often one turns out to be a false lead - I've got no grounds for complaint as this collaborative effort has spared me the tens of thousands some have spent on false leads but I've certainly done a fair amount of wasted spending in my time.

Your stash includes a stack of kits that haven't been mentioned, or have been but subsequently ruled out, or so we thought.

Are you saying all of these ARE confirmed Falcon donors, or just the stuff one needs to be a dedicated SW studio-scale diehard in general?

It's gotta be the latter, right? You have ESB-only stuff in there, or I'd alway sthought so for the Karl and Leopold, at any rate.

I'm adding all your 'new' kits to the list as tentatives for now.

No sweat at all, Martyn. This is actually just a part of the collection I use to identify parts for both ANH and ESB miniature projects. Luckily for anyone building the ANH Falcon, you won't need to worry about the Hasegawa rail guns or the Entex Porsche (very, very lucky on that count :cool).

Well, at least not until things on the five-footer started getting modified for ESB, anyway, in which case it makes sense to be looking at some of these later kits as well. Same goes for the original Star Destroyer, which picked up a whole bunch of new parts for ESB. Depends on what versions folks are planning on building.

There are a large number of donor kits that have been mentioned in this thread that you'll see in this shot. There are other kits that are in that shot that haven't been mentioned yet, but probably will sooner or later.

As much as anything, I wanted to give folks a look at a portion of what they're going to need on hand to actually build a five-foot Falcon the old fashioned way. A bit of inspiration mixed with a dash of reality.

My wife keeps asking me 'how many old models are you going to buy?' I have to reply, 'all of them.' :lol
Hey! No mention of large scale Porsches are allowed in this thread! :behave

Craig

Good points, Kevin. And yes - it is intimidating. My Falcon collection alone, so far, covers the top of three bays of racking, and I'm only 2/3 of the way there for just the "known" stuff.

You don't HAVE to be wealthy to tackle this build, but you do need at least one of the following:

* deep pockets
* no other competing financial priorities, or
* a dash of recklessness :lol

In my case I wouldn't be tackling it if it wasn't for the fact I expect to pay off my mortgage this year. After that, there's no big bills until the boy starts high school...hopefully...

Craig, never mind the Porsche...I'm still crossing my fingers we don't start turning out to need any 1/8 F1 stuff.

Have you seen the prices on those?! :eek

Yup. I have basically doubled the size of my kitlist thanks to that pic. :thumbsup Obviously a lot of it is tentative, but things like the extra Bandai 1/48 stuff are obviously worth trying.

Thanks a bunch, Kevin! I mean that both ways. Ow my wallet! :lol
