Iron Man

The inner highlights are a cream color, rather than a white. Check out Sheppard Fairey's original Obama poster for a better sense of the color palette:

It looks like they changed the red from Sheppard Fairey's palette to something better matching Iron Man's actual color though.

So far it looks awesome though!

Thanks for the heads up Nick. I'll just change the pallete an re-upload it when done. :)

I went to see the movie again last night and pulled out my phone during the poster scene. I tried to snap a few pics, they came out ok. Not alot of detail, but every little bit helps.

I'm a graphic designer and plan on using them as reference to make my own version of the poster. Illustrator is my bread and butter. :)

Look back a few posts for a great reference pic from ebay. It's the one I worked from that was posted here. Good luck :)

Anyone know how much that one on ebay went for?

Never mind I found the auction, it went for $500

Thanks, didn't look back at the last few pages.

That photos helps alot. They copied the hatching that Fairey uses to transition from tan to light blue, rather than just using all solid shapes. That's going to be what makes this look really authentic.

I use Illustrator alot, and i'm a super stickler for detailing in illustrations, i'll probably work up a file this week, getting it as close as possible to the real design.

Fairey's images really have a TON of detail in them. I was fortunate enough to run across one of his more recent pieces of Obey Propaganda in NYC the other week of a similar style, but different color palette, to his Obama posters. It was a good sized wheatpasting, probably about 10 feet high and 15 feet wide. By no means his largest work, but getting up close to it, the hatching and minute details were very prominent...and from a distance they make the image. Much like how a Monet is beautiful from a distance, but when you're up close you can see the intricate work that goes into it.

Good luck to all replicating it.

PS: I'm a little peeved that they don't seem to have asked Fairey to do the image for Iron Man. If they had, you could bet that he'd have turned that circular upper-chest rivet into a small Andre the Giant "Obey" button, like he did with Obama's O in the lesser known "Progress" version of the poster.

I'm working on some horizontal banding in illustrator using the same 2 colours. I found all the pantones for the Fairey image and loaded them into illustrator. The rest was just a case of making a swatch pattern that resembles it. I could always load my image into the Obamacon but this way is more fun :)

Heres my custom palette and swatches.

Awesome! Just overlay the solid blue over that and you'll be damn near there!

To really make it pop, sharpen the lines (Especially around the mouth, chest and shoulder bolts, and neck brace pieces) more.

Also don't forget the red hatching just to the right of the red on his face to transition into the blue.

The blue-yellow splotch on the right side of his upper chest also needs to be elongated so it reaches the top edge of the chest piece around the neck.

It also appears that the right and top edges of the mouth should be outlined in red as well as the bottom of the right hand side mouth extension.

Those are just a few things I noticed on first glance.

...Is my perfectionism annoying yet? :lol Seriously though it's looking great, the hatching makes a huge difference!

OK I'm on it. Sorry to steal this whole thread but I'm having too much fun. :)

Next upload will be spot on...I hope :lol

I hope so too, it'll save me from a lot of, what I admit is, nitpicking. :)

Don't you mean Nick-picking :lol

One thing to point out if I'm basing it on the Fairey image it needs to have the hatching but until I see a version of Starks up close it's going to be tough. I'll do some more tomorrow.

Goodnight all :sleep

I don't think you will find any complaints Paul, but just in case, I can divert the topic a little... :)

This was posted in its own topic but I thought if I posted it here, maybe a few people might be able to get it finished. I think this would look really great printed on a transparency.
JARVIS
And here is a pretty good reference to go with

It looks like Stark's mug shot is already used in the id paper props so that would be a great first step. Can't wait to see if this develops into anything!

has there been any more progress on this prop...Thank you in advance.

...I would love to see some more progress on this. While JARVIS had a smaller role in the sequel, I did notice the portable unit hanging on the wall in a variety of shots. Having this pic finished and incorporated into a replica of that unit would be a really nice piece.
