Got my chassis, tri-cree, resistors, and 7/8 TCSS Heat sink today. All I have left is to find a crystal that fits (had one I really like but just a bit large), and wait for my 30 Guage wire and new soldering iron (arriving tomorrow). Can't wait to start this.

My chasis arrived yesterday I hear...I dont leave korea for another week...Im excited to put it all together when I get home in between getting settled

I ordered a bag of quartz....hope it works out that 1 fits lol....

ALSO....I read on the saber forums that you want a clear crystal that colored ones dont light up so well? Anyone have experience with that?

In general clear tends to work the best unless you can find a quartz with a color hue to it. You obviously don't want one that is a solid color because light can't pass through it. I've seen these aqua quartz crystals work really well for if you use a white LED: https://www.etsy.com/listing/263808...ga_search_query=aqua quartz&ref=sr_gallery_38

Not sure if you could get them in other colors.

Also, if you use clear I've found that the more clear the crystal the less color and light it absorbs. You want to actually find the cloudiest and imperfect clear crystal you can. That way all of the light and color stays in it. For blue crystals I doubt it really matters. I'm thinking of redoing it and going for the aqua from Etsy. I'll just get a few and use the one that works the best.

This one might even be better. Not a bad price and if you choose the medium size it's almost guaranteed to fit at 1.0" - 1.25" Still not a bad idea to get a few though.

Sorry to bring the resistors up again... but I purchased the Tri Cree XPE2 BBW from SaberBay on Etsy. He said that I needed to use a 1w .5ohm resistor on the blue LEDS only. Are any of you using the same? I read through this thread and it seems that people are doing all sort of different things.

Thanks for the link. I ordered 3 clear quartz as well. Hopefully one will be the right size and milkyness. Now if I could just decide which version I want to do... ANH... or TFA... ah well, I have till April to decide as my chassis is coming with the next run.

I think Yoda at FX-Sabers is working on one too, but I'm not sure if it's out of the concept phase. I think primarily the options are Darth Ryo's (Goth Knight), his Padawan setup, TCSS chassis discs for full DIY, and waiting for Yoda's.

The Graflex Shop's glass eye can probably be made to shine through. I bet once Roman is done with his flashgun replica, there will be a bunch glass eyes available because many people will be building ESB versions of their lightsabers.

I rec'd some quarts crystals from Amazon today. Sadly they are all a bit too big for the goth chassis. I'll take a Dremel tool to one of them and see how that works out.
