Give me back Sebastian Shaw at end of ROTJ

It doesn't bug me as much as Jedi Rocks... actually, I hate Jedi Rocks.

Yes it makes little sense. The part that really bugs me about it, is that they used a costume test shot of Hayden. Shaw had this look of being at peace... like someone who had just been released from his own personal Hell by letting go of his anger. Hayden looks angry. He's got this little creepy grin that says "psychotic" more than at peace.

I'm not one of the fan boys that have to criticize everything about the prequels and SE's, but I do think that the replacement of Shaw and Jedi Rocks were probably the worst decisions of the SE's. They're two things I really wish he'd do away with when he does another version for Bluray.

That is one of my biggest gripes about the complainers. They don't even understand what they are complaining about.

Midichlorians are not the Force. They simply add a name to what we already knew - that strength in the force is partially controlled by genetics. Certain bloodlines are stronger in the force than others. This is how it has always been. The beloved Original Trilogy established it very clearly.

The Force is still a mystical energy field. Midichlorians are just the way the Force interfaces with the physical world.

I don't understand that if Hayden Christensen replaces Sebastian Shaw, why not do the logical thing and replace Sir Alec with Ewan and Old Yoda with Young, Vibrant Yoda? Adding in Hayden is silly, but if you're going to do it, do all three. Just replacing one doesn't make any sense.

THIS for the win, Alex.

I was surprised to find Midichlorians referred to by name going as far back as 1977.

In the hardcover "Making of Star Wars" book there is a section of bonus content including a series of interviews George Lucas gave to flesh out the Star Wars galaxy for licensees such as Marvel.

In a brief segment titled "The Force" he refers to force sensitive creatures "...having more midi-chlorians in their cells."

I, like everyone else, was under the impression they were merely a device dreamed up for the prequels, but apparently not. It also described the fall of The Republic in much the same way we saw in the prequels; indeed it was in the prologue to the novelization from 1976.

While it is clear (not least due to how the interviews described Vader's rolein the downfall of the Jedi) that much of the detail for the back story was made up later, it is also clear that the broad context for the prequels existed from the beginning.

Im also a life long star wars NUT whos life and mind were saved by George Lucas's gift to the world as a poor unhappy kid. MOST of the happy bits I remember of my childhood are star wars related. It was EVERYTHING. STAR WARS was MAGIC.

I warned everyone in 99 the magic couldnt be like that again and boy was i right. I STILL love star wars, the star wars of the OT. The prequels were a greater let down then i was anticipating though. And I am constantly reminded of it when i see them cruising the channels...and the Special editions as well. UGH Jedi rox and greedo shooting...just terrible. Im glad im not the only one who thinks this way, so thats why this thread though redundant as prequel bashing, is relevant because guys our age who loved STAR WARS are eternally reminded of what was and what could have been if Gary Kurtz had been kept in the sw family and rick mccallum was washing cars somewhere when we see the new toy commercialized star wars drek...fly casual...curt )

True, but the backstory for anakin's fall was 'he fell to the dark side', and not a whole lot more than that. The lead up to the 'fall' in the PT was, well, bad (and that's being nice). Just a LITTLE tweaking makes it much easier to believe and probably come across much better. DON'T make him a whiny jerk from the second AOTC begins. You can make maybe struggle with emotion a bit. Instead of making Padme out to be 'just a womb', you can make it that she's pregnant before he kills off the Tuskens, then after he kills them and confesses to her, she's leaves him. That can be a device to get him headed in a bad direction and then the emperor just gives him the last little push. They way it was done was simply not good or believable, really.

I agree with the thread title. Put shaw back at the end of Jedi. Luke looks at the ghosts and is supposed to know the 3rd old guy is his dad. When hayden appears you expect luke to say 'who's the 15 year old kid?' and not recognize him as his father.

What i find soooo funny is how i got lynched on this board for saying the movies sucked when they first came out - by some of the same people who now act as if they always hated them -- no you LOVED that crap - LOOOOOVED it when it first hit. I used to have a page saved that had two members discussing what material Jar Jar's vest could be made from - JAR JAR'S VEST??!?!?! LOL.

To me it's simple enough...

When OWK died as a "Good" Jedi, it was as Alec Guiness' character...

When Yoda died, it was as a "Good" Jedi master...

There was no need to change them.

When Anakin was still a "Good" Jedi, he was til that time portrayed by Hayden; He died as a young Jedi on Musafar as Darth Vader, but was still Anakin portrayed by Hayden before he turned.... So, to me the new end of ROTJ makes perfect sense... Each character died at the height of their Jedi goodness...

While Sebastian Shaw represented the "born again" Anakin, he was not the "Good" Anakin that Died as a Jedi...

In my personal opinion, I don't see him as a "good" Jedi at all during that time. I see him as a Jedi always on the verge of snapping. Even as a Padawan his impatience with Obi Wan and even the rules of being a Jedi were just a hindrance that he believed was there specifically to hold back his developing power. He felt all the rest of the Masters were jealous of his power and resented it. He killed all those sand people men, women, and children out of revenge and anger. He constantly complained to Padme about how he wasn't being allowed to develop his power and had no hesitation in ignoring the rules of Jedi life. He was only "good" when he was a youngling, maybe as a much younger Padawan prior to AotC, and after he was "saved".

My only other gripe about the PT is the music where Darth Vader and the Clone Troopers are advancing to attack the Jedi Temple. It should have been the empire music we all knew and what i was expecting when the 1st note played but then became something that didn't connect to the birth of the Empire like it should have. Again, a personal dislike on that one part.

Ew--good point. Empire theme music would have been chilling--and harken back (or forward) to the OT. Nice idea!

Maybe I'm opening ANOTHER can of worms but...

I just find it ironic that Sebastian Shaw took the place of what should have been David Prowse in the Darth Vader unmasked and force ghost scenes...

Only to have Sebastian Shaw's ghost image replaced with Hayden decades later.

Just a wee bit ironic.

Feels more like George changing things on a whim regardless of whether or not they "make sense" or follow any loose form of continuity.

But all the pointless characters with build-up that went no where. Aurra Sing, Zam, the Diner scene, the Chancellor, underused Dooku and overused Windu.

Oh god, don't forget about Maul. Yes, I know he was just supposed to be a pawn, but if they just developed him over the II and III, he could have potentially been awesome.

With that logic, Yoda's ghost should have been Frank Oz.

Totally kidding. Ha HA! Right?

'They' thinks that Prowse's face character cant described an ordinary old man with 'father' character and now Shaw was replaced because its not relevant to the story line where Anakin was brought back from the darkside period,i thought the Jedi that was 'died' on Eps III is on his prime of his downfall,so its not actually relevant? That the Jedi is actually is doing the prophecy on ROTJ :confused :confused :confused :confused :confused :confused
Whats going on here?:lol
