Haven't seen any other threads about S2. Anyone else watch the 1st episode? I thought it was pretty good! I'm looking forward to seeing how things play out with the group approaching the city looking for revenge.

PS - I never played the game, but is the character of Ellie as unlikable in the game as she is in the TV show? I can't think of one redeeming quality that would make her someone people would gravitate to on a social level.

She was likeable in the game, at least the first one. S2 episode 1, I was pissed off the whole time at the attitude, the lack of respect for authority, and just the lack of appreciation that her actions can put everyone else in danger. I'm just waiting for her to get someone killed because of the whole 'I do what I want, when I want attitude'.

My better half and I joke around about the zombie apocalypse all the time, and I sometimes catch myself characterizing people I know, and how I think they would handle being a 'survivor', and how much of an asset or hinderance they would be. I know a couple of Ellies lol.... They would be very helpful, useful, and skilled in a few ways to help the group, but the reckless attitude makes them a no-go for me; they'll get other people killed along with themselves.

And seriously, just because you can't get infected, doesn't mean you can't be killed, or get any infection and potentially die, and so on. Just stupid. I had to consciously try to keep my mouth shut for a solid third of that episode lol.

I don't really have a bias on it as to whether it is good or bad. To me, its just more Tales of the Walking Dead. I mean, other than fungus instead of virus this show is exactly like the Walking Dead. Please, tell me what is different. But, it feels like Walking Dead in the later years, which means "eh, whatever." Nothing can compare to those first few seasons of TWD. That stuff was amazing!

I've never played the game, but was Ellie this annoying? I'm not dissing on the actor, just the character. I want this girl to get eaten by a zombie.

The game is one of the best there is because of the story, characters and the world development. The TV series is a shadow of what the game is.

It was the first game I ever played where my significant other (not a gamer) would sit and watch just for the story. That was no small achievement.

Well, despite my words on my former post, I will have to say the episode 2 was really really good!! Definitely the best episode of the entire series so far.

I caught the 2 episodes, totally different vibe than the first season, I have to “adapt”

I’m obsessed with flame throwers so that scene was great

It has to do with the writing. In part 2, Ellie is more negative since she dislikes Joel for having lied to her about the possibility of a cure back in part 1/season 1 but Ellie in part 2 was a more mature survivor.

In the patrol scene for example, Ellie is far more serious. She is still hiding the fact that she is immune from Dina (and others) and both take the infected seriously since they are still deadly threats that can instantly rip a person in half (in the game, clickers are one-hit kills that instantly kill you if they grab you).

Even in season 1, Ellie is far more unlikable than she is in the game. I think it has to do with the constant swearing (Ellie in game also swears quite a bit in the beginning but mellows out) and the fact that show Ellie doesnt seem to take the infection as seriously as she should. She jokes about turning into a clicker in S1 and does so again in S2 which isnt funny and also not something game Ellie would do (she is traumatized from infected having lost her first love to them, getting bit herself, and constantly losing others like Tess as well).

Is it me? But what happened? Has directors changed?

I feel like the show is a total miss..

It might have to do with the fact that the second season is based on the second game, which a lot of fans and players have stated was grossly inferior in its storytelling.
The second game went completely sideways and caused the entire game franchise to get cancelled.

And you have the game’s creator as the creator of the show, and you have him and the woman who written the second game that this second season is based on writing the second season of this show.

I heard that the the creator of the game and the show pretty much stated that there wouldn't be a third part, unless he decided to change his mind recently.
I am not a gamer so I honestly don’t know what’s true. I randomly found the videos on YouTube after watching review videos of the show

I can’t confirm anything

Youtubers like to lie alot.

Third game hasnt been announced yet since Naughty Dog is working on another new IP called Intergalactic which is a sci-fi game. They may work on TLoU3 after that (which is honestly very likely imo since Naughty Dog doesnt have many other IPs left to work on) but so far they have denied a part 3 exists.

Personally, I think a part 3 needs to happen to bring proper closure to the story. Part 2 could work as the darknessed before the dawn midquel to a trilogy but that requires a part 3.
