Having said all of that, I have a ton of respect for all of the people here who have brought information forward and offered their services to the community. I, in every way, support the proliferation of this information, these ideas, and the effort that everyone here has offered. I am constantly impressed by what this community has uncovered and what we continue to find out about all of this. It shows a ton of determination and dedication and I thank everyone here for playing their part in it.
First, let's get one thing straight, this entire thread resembles nothing of Tyler Durden! LOL. He would slap the lot of us for our behavior. Spending money on rare vintage items, making replicas and selling them, trying to look like him. Let's be honest with ourselves. None of us are trying to hit bottom here.
And Shpongled, please understand, for the collectors who have put in so much dedication and time on research and endless hours of searching for these vintage items, it's like a treasure hunt for us. It makes no sense to divulge ALL information. It just creates more competition and makes it even harder to find these impossibly rare pieces. I've even gotten into a bidding wars before with iamjwpc because we were both looking for the same thing at the same time. A shirt that could have cost either of us maybe $20 ended up costing one of us almost $400! Because we are both collectors, and that's fair. You win some, you lose some. Now if it was only exclusive to our little community, that's one thing to consider, and it can be a helpful exchange of information sometimes, but you have to know there are hundreds of lurkers that come to this site without posting a thing, without contributing to the community. This thread has already received over 375,000 views! Imagine if I had to bid against even 10 people to acquire some of the things I've found. I would be outbid every time because I'm on a budget and I can't afford $10,000 for a shirt. Everything would become unaffordable for me and then there would be no accurate replicas.Try to look at it from a treasure hunters point of view, that's all I'm asking you to consider.
Well the muslin came today. No shoulder pads in it. He also sent a leather sample and lining sample. I think the leather you picked, AJ, is the exact same he uses on the Mayhem jackets. I was kind of hoping this jacket would be darker than the Mayhem, but looking at the sheet of samples he sent you, I can't really see any of the other ones looking quite right. So I think I might just stick with this one anyway. Excited to see what the tapering looks like! I'm going to hold off on confirming the sample for tonight and give it some thought until tomorrow to decide what I want to do, but I thought that was interesting. I guess I'll probably have two very red jackets.![]()
It shouldn't be it was similar to the screen one. I am not home yet to try the muslin. Won't be for another 6 hours. It looks the same red as your mayhem
jacket?
The screen jacket does have a slight orange to it. Hard to capture in the pictures I took but I made a note of that in my first visit I posted that on the forum. The mayhem jacket is definitely only a shade or two lighter then the screen jacket. The lighting is slightly different where the jacket is vs the mayhem jacket. I did in fact hold the leather as close up to the jacket and it matched nearly exact if not exact. In fact, i got yelled at for being too close but by that piint I got what I needed.
The leathers do vary based in color based on the light. In fact look at the photo of brad here and how red the jacket is.

Is your mayhem leather a different leather then the default he uses? Is it lambskin?
I like these. I was trying to get tortoise shell for my JAL last year when I got my second one made. But JAL offered me the normal ones and I took them. Soul, would it be possible to get unbroken ones?
