Face off season 4

I did agree with his comment about the make up looking like a Todd McFarlane toy... it did have the glossy look of a toy, blown up to 1:1 proportions.

And was this last makeup the third time Eric did something with nipple rings? :eek

I didn't mind the static face that much, honestly. Its look felt appropriate for the challenge and was one of the few sculpts that didn't enrage me in one way or another. Definitely do want to see people think more animatedly about their makeups tho- and not just from an OMG ANIMATRONICS standpoint.

It occurs to me, this season there's so few people making nice PROPS with their makeups. Last season there was a lot more fabrication going on. This season is missing that element.

Very curious to see how tonight's episode will go, should be interesting now that we're down to the SRS BSNS contenders!

P.S. anyone here auditioning for next season?

I live real close to the studio so I'm going in for an interview/audition tomorrow morning. Super nervous!! I've never really done prosthetics before, although I did do theater makeup for a while when I was younger... but I cranked out a portfolio piece over the past two days. Baking the foam latex today we'll see how it goes! The casting producer said it was fine I was mostly fabrication, and seemed very excited to meet me. I'm assuming it might also be because I'm a girl. (This season's girls sucked!) Last season had a lot more talented ladies... regardless how my interview goes I'm really hoping there's better female sculptors lined up for next season, c'mon, gender represent!!

Ooooh! Good luck! Let us know how the interview goes. :D

Anyone curious, you have until tomorrow to request the information pack for auditions here: Casting | Face Off | Syfy (They've been pimping the link at their facebook for a while)

Even if some of you aren't ready this round, might be good to note for the future!

much of season 5 are already cast ..with psych evals already taking place a few weeks back. they are hitting up female artists like mad.

Every time I watch this show I think about how I would go about a challenge.
Then I remember that I mostly fabricate things and have never done make up.

That makes me remember that there are areas in f/x and replication that I still need to learn.

My sculpting is pretty with organic stuff. It takes me months to finish one costume. I dont know if I can do that in three 8 hour days.

Wow, Glen wasn't saying much tonight. Flu? Brown bottle flu? :)

I'm still digging this show, and my daughters do too. Its very cool to see how they go about these projects, and there's not a lot of time to get these out. They've dialed down the drama this season, seems like they're focusing more on the projects. I like that it's focused on practical effects.

I'm surprised they didn't do a body painting episode this season. Each of the 3 previous seasons had one.

I was just thinking this myself last night too.

Yeah, this season has been less dramztic as season past but they are
wrong on one thing. In the opening, they state that these are the most
talented contestants yet. I don't agree with that. One or two have some
great talent (they are in the finale) while the rest were sub par at best.

I also hope to see less contestants that are gothic looking freaks of nature. Join SYFYs other show if you want to be on TV. LOL.

Back from audition. Not sure I'm allowed to say much, but what a lovely, enthusiastic, and supportive group of people they have working over there!! Totally a joy to work with and helped me through my nervousness!

We'll see how it all goes, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

That's fantastic! I hope you get a spot on the show. :)

It pretty much goes hand in hand, nearly half of the students in the FX makeup and modeling part of the IDT program when i was in art school were goth. The other part were normal and country folks lol. All the preppies stayed out of the basement though.

Man, I would love to find an attractive female that was into prop building, make up, movies etc. Its pretty rare to find a girl like that where Im from! :(

Congrats, and good luck!

Uploaded a pic of the prosthetic I made for the audition.

To note: I was honest about the fact that while I had theater makeup experience, I had never actually made a prosthetic before, and that this was my first one I threw together two days before the interview. They were still impressed. XD

I'm definitely in Alpha Proto's boat of being well versed in all the things but actual makeup, but I'm a very fast learner, and good at swift sculpts and builds! If I make the callback, I have a lot more materials I need to gather to do this properly. XD

Godddd why is it so hard to find ridge filler and PAX paint in Sherman Oaks???
