Dewy and Anakin Starkiller's Accurate Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 1 Lightsaber Design

Let me know how it goes

Thanks will do. I ordered some today.

I think the main thing that’s going to be annoying is disassembling the entire hilt to polish the delrin. Definitely a lot of steps in that.

Does the cream eventually absorb or dry so that it’s not greasy afterwards?

Also what was your method for buffing the aluminum parts? Did you just hold them by hand and use the scotch brite pad?

First coat the delrin parts and let them sit for a bit. Then sand while coated and coat again.

For the aluminum parts, I used the scotch brite spinning it in hand while holding the pad. I used the delrin emitter to fix the 3 prong emitter piece in place to help with spinning. I also used mother's aluminum polish to finish

I use cocobutter in my knees and elbows.. wonder how that works on Delrin…

has this thread really devolved into ashy acetal?!

one of my favorite parts of this kit is literally the different materials. plastic is usually warmer at first touch than metal, and you get that experience when grabbing this hilt!

LOL!!!

It seems to be a pretty common experience that Delrin is hard to get paint to adhere to:

Those are just from the top of the first page of Google results.

Sorry guys. I don't mean to be withholding. But, I just didn't really have any trouble with painting the delrin and didn't really take any particular steps beyond wiping down the surface, letting it dry, and painting it according to the instructions on the can. This is the paint I used

That’s good to know though. For the time being I just used the cream to bring the black sheen out a bit. But if I ever choose to paint it in the future I’ll just make sure it’s totally clean from any grease.
