I just wanted to post this because I finished painting my Dewy resin casts and they now have a place of pride next to my Anakin Starkiller Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 1 Hero lightsaber.

The Hero by Anakin Starkiller is the most beautiful lightsaber replica I have ever seen, This prop was my favorite design from all the Star Wars movies and the Starkiller version is the most incredible piece I've ever seen. I wish I had ordered two! Thank you Anakin Starkiller and Dewy for your amazing dedication and incredible accuracy. There aren't words to describe how unbelievable this is in person.

Dewy made a resin stunt version from the hero he and Anakin worked on. I ordered two. I do a lot of molding and casting and these are practically flawless. I really love these and they hold a place of esteem next to my hero!! Thank you so much Dewy for all the hard work molding and casting these. They are phenomenal

I can't wait for your next project!!!

Below is a picture of the finished props. The paint work on the resin isn't great, but they are stunts, after all.

Thank you for the kind words! The stunt sabers look great!

That hero replica was the culmination of Anakin Starkiller and myself obsessing over the original prop for years and years and years. At first separately, then eventually together after we teamed up. It was an absolute dream of mine. There had been some incredible replicas of the prop before, but none that were exactly what I wanted. I am extremely grateful to Anakin Starkiller for making it a reality. There are maybe one or two extremely small tweaks I would make, but other than finding the original prop, I don’t think there is anything more that can be done to improve accuracy.

The stunt sabers were a fun project that I had always wanted to tackle, I just never felt right casting someone else’s work. I do plan to make another mold and occasionally offer up more castings in the future, but just don’t have the time right now.

I also spent quite a bit of time trying to find a local supplier to chrome plate the resin castings so I could offer up some AOTC versions, but all the shops by me wanted commitments of thousands of dollars just to develop the process and give me a sample with no guarantee of results.

From left to right:
  1. One of the original prototypes from the run
  2. The production saber that I turned into (read: sacrificed for) the mold master for the resin castings. Still has clay in all the voids.
  3. The first casting to come out of the accurate single seam mold I used for the resin run, came out too perfect to paint or sell
  4. Same as #3 but the first one with a threaded rod, also too perfect to paint or sell
  5. The very last casting to come out of the 2 seam less accurate block mold, this one was painted with the accurate paints I found
  6. 2 seam block mold casting with Tamiya paints (less accurate but really good looking)
  7. 2 seam block mold casting featureless stunt with Tamiya paint
  8. On bottom: my personal production hero saber
This made me realize I never did end up with a casting from my accurate single seam mold painted with the accurate paints… the whole reason I started that project to begin with.

That would be so awesome, but I can understand how it would be a huge investment. The amount of preparing to maybe get an okay finish has always discouraged me.

I thought about doing Alclad on mine, but I've never done anything this big. I've had some success with small part done by airbrush, but I think I'd need a sprayer for something this size. I tried and it was so bad I sanded it off and did rattle can. It take a fair bit of Alclad to get three coats on something this size, and it's expensive when it doesn't go well.

Any possibility of being able to purchase a hero hilt, unpainted or painted, this is my absolute favourite lightsaber and have long searched for an entirely accurate replica and believe this is the one to have.

What paints did you use?
