DC Comics Reboots All Titles

One of the more interesting bits is that DC isn't correcting folks calling it a reboot and instead saying that it's an all new DCU - and that we'll understand why shortly.

Frankly, I'm more than a little tired of DC revising certain characters on a whim. The last few Superman reboots have pretty much sucked (IMO)... and what I've seen of the new costume is pretty bad (juvenile "S" chest desing and a collar!?!?).

I recently gave up reading Superman due to the inconsistent quality of both the writing and art and an overall lack of direction. JMS' Superman walking the Earth just didn't click and Supe's renouncing the US was just the last straw. I think Supergirl, which had an unexpected quality and charm is the only true DCU book I still read (my tastes lie more indie, I reckon).

So, when this reboot, ummmm, new DCU does happen I guess I'll check something out. Just not sure what yet.

I really hate the way that "S" looks.

On a good day Jim Lee draws like Marc Silvestri. On a bad day he draws like Rob Liefeld.

I keep buying dvd collections of old comics because i've missed out on so many years of storylines it's hard to get back into books. At least now the companies put out stuff in TPB more and more. I agree the storylines in some of these newer comics are like soap operas. i miss the 80s comics where it had the story but it wasn't overly complicated.

Man, I must be in the minority but I haven't seen a Jim Lee drawing that I didn't think looked like the 'iconic' version of whatever character he's doing. His X-Men stuff is still my favorite, when he was on Batman it was great too.

Naw, Jim's stuff is awesome.

please correct me if Im wrong. But from looking around, places like CBR and such are saying its only 10 titles that are getting the old reset to #1, GL, flash, JLA, WW, etc, but then I got a hold of another article on CBR saying that there are 4 GL titles going back to #1 so Im a little lost if its 10 titles and all their spin off or what grrrr stupid DC. What they need is to keep there arcs simple but still entertaining so a noob can jump on within a couple issues, like amazing spidey, i stopeed reading picked it up and was instantly back into it. I think alot of stuff that confuses people is the amount of elseqorld stories that have nothing to do with the main titles like DKR, Red son and so on. And I agree with Larry Jim Lee's stuff is the dogs baws.

Starting with Rebirth in...what...2004? 2005? You could do that with GL/GLC. There was a little overlap, but not much. Then came Blackest Night, and that changed due to the nature of the event (same with Brightest Day). I've read up to just before Blackest Night through TPBs, but honestly I think a newbie could've started reading for at least anything prior to the Sinestro Corps wars.

I am starting to think this is a genius scam by DC. Say theyre going to relaunch titles, then make it so confusing that everyone like WTF, which then generates alot of talk, then DC say its not what everyone thinks, then retailers are like WTF, generating more talk. I think DC are basically pulling the any publicity is good publicity stunt here, even if it leaves everyone stratching there heads asking whats going on. What happened to just making good comics that get readers via the content as apposed to this need to do marketing ploys to make sales targets. The content will sell its self. Prime example is DKR, which continues to sell like a beast.

This is so bloody dumb, rebooting all the batman titles i'm currently collecting, eff you DC.

I think this is because when CBR first broke the story, DC hadn't decided if Batman and other titles would be going back to #1 or ending (like Batman, Inc.) So, that's why the conflicting stories are out there. Because DC doesn't even know what the hell it's doing yet.

(or so I heard.)

Everything I've read states all 52 titles that will roll out for this will begin numbering at #1 including Batman and Detective Comics.

DC Relaunch: A Brand New Look For Superman, Supergirl And Superboy Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors

Superman and Supergirl's new costumes look absolutely terrible.

I love George Perez' art, but I can't see me picking this up.

I love the current SUpergirl monthly - call it a guilty pleasure or whatever. It was tons of fun and well written. When Brian Wood tweeted something about Supergirl a few days ago, I had some hope that perhaps he would finally get in on some mainstream stuff - alas, not going to happen.

Cripes - it's like they're keeping the worst of the DCU in the DCnU and just losing their minds on other things.
