No, not at all. But I'm working on finishing up all 3 versions, on 3 seperate mannequins.
Things just move so very slowly for me.

So your not happy just having the best in the world of one version... your goin for the hat-trick.

:D

Cant wait till the day when you post "my vaders are finished."

I wonder... what will you do when they all 3 are done?

Start a ROTS just for the heck of it?

Out of curiousity what is it about the ANH that you dont like as much as the other 2?

To me the ANH is the most iconic memorable look... the face dome and pointy peak are what i want to see when i see Vader... B)

And yes, Gino's ANH is a primo example of an accurate ANH replica. ;)

Thanks Ken,

Actually that's a very good question as I've been working on various incarnations of a vader costume since 1993. Not consistently mind you, but that's what got me introduced into the hobby.
It will be a day long remembered when I can finally say that, however I'm still a ways off. But I've never been this close. As for ROTS vader, to me it is an abomination. It has no character and looks like all those GT fan costumes that I hate so much. They set out to "perfect" his costume in ROTS, and ended up losing its soul.

Definitely revisiting trooper armor next.
Other things on the table or in various stages of development are lifesize Emperor's Royal Guard, ESB Yoda, Tie Pilot/AT-AT, and Emperor. I don't know what I'm going to do with all these lifesize action figures.
Once the Vaders are out of the way, I suppose I'll be able to focus on those other things more as Vader takes up most of my personal prop attention.

Why I don't like the ANH as much?
Well, I suppose its because he's so rough and his chestbox & belt are very simplistic in design. Also, his color palette is nicer in ESB/ROTJ. The subtle introduction of bright red, blue, and green to his chestbox/belt to me makes a huge difference when contrasted against his all black figure.
Once you get to ESB, he's very much more refined...and GLOSSY. Love the glossy, and I hate that his armor is covered up in ANH. I also like that his chestbox lights up and just looks so much more sophisticated.

GINO, as always you set the Vader standard for us to aspire to - just superb. :thumbsup

Glad this thread has been ressurected too. I never get tired of Vader photos.

Here's a shot I was playing around with of my (continually WIP) ANH Vader:

Can someone point out the main differences between the ANH, ESB and ROTJ Vaders? I know the chin vent varies and chestboxes vary alot but what are the other obvious features that vary? Even toy collector guys refer to 'ESB vader' vs. a 'ANH Vader' but I am not aware of these aparantly obvious differences. Gloves, suit, armor, etc.?

If there is a thread on this, a link would be great! Couldn't find it myself. :(

For the hell of it an updated shot of my vader. *the belt and boxes under construction with something more accurate since this picture was taken.*

So, has anyone smeared their paint job on with a cheap paint brush? You know, for that authentic opening scene look?:cool

It's not the best, but I was happy with it back then.

Cheers,

Waiting on a dvd to screencap, but MAN the helmet paint was near evil! I was blown away when I saw the lines on the dome, amazing.
Nice suit Yak, I'm hoping one day to work towards a NICE setup of my own:)

But the crap suits will do for moving targets.
