Chronicle / Efx Mandalorian prop replicas

Wow...you lucky one...the helmet look really good.

The Anovos looks terrible with this thick clearcoat.Sorry...but thats why I hate too much clearcoat..it ruins the complete finish.

Hello guys,

I am glad to see these being shipped. Too bad some have defects but overall, the helmet looks promising and I hope to get mine soon.

But did everybody received the last invoice for it ? I preordered mine back in november and did not get any notifications to pay what’s left yet. I sent 3 emails to EFX support last few weeks but did not received any answer...
Hello guys,
Bump!
Anybody still waiting for the final invoice ?
I keep asking for an update of my order (placed in november), but I did not received a single answer to my last 4 emails yet...
Thanks!

Hello,

Directly from EFX.

The customer service keeps ignoring my emails since the 2nd shipment of helmets arrived in the US. And as far as I understand or previous exchanges my order should have been in this shipment. Their last answer, back in May, was « You are order 19338x and we only made it through 193357 on the first shipment. ».

And now I see several people who ordered in November, like I did, not only saying that they paid, but saying that they got their helmet by now... and sometimes even a replacement.

Their website talks about « an email from us to complete their orders », which I still did not received yet...

I completely agree...I don't like the "shinny finish" on the Anovos version.

I think the helmet should be more shiny than the efx, but I'm not a fan of how the finish is on the Anovos either. The Anovos looks more like a grey car finish than a metal helmet.

It’s hard to say. The alumiluster is shiny but not super clear-coated.
The Anovos looks like it isn't the same kind of shiny. Shiny metal looks different than a shiny painted car finish with clear coat.

Apparently clear coat is part of the process to finish the metallic look, but somehow the end result of the Anovos doesn't capture that shiny metal look.

Funny with the things I’ve seen, the EFX looks thin to me compared to some of the main pics I’ve seen. Like the EW cover. The ANOVOS looks like the right shape. But overall? They are both awesome if there aren’t “flaws.”

I also ordered from EFX. I luckily caught their invoice in my spam folder. Perhaps yours may have gotten caught there as well?

So fair warning, this is a little long winded and likely only relevant to a few folks. If you aren’t planning on working on your helmet or interested in the construction.. move along.

I did a little write up in the Anovos thread when I stripped that one, so I figured I should do the same with the EFX.

There doesn’t seem to be any catalyzed paint utilized in the process as everything was able to be stripped off, from the clear coat all the way down to the primer, with lacquer thinner. Compare this to the Anovos which has catalyzed clear and filler primer, which does not react at all to the lacquer thinner. (This gives me concern in terms of removing the weathering with 99% alcohol. The finish may not be solvent resistant with longer exposure to the alcohol. While in my tests nothing other than the weathering was removed, proceed with caution if you do decide to do that. I am not responsible for any damage done to your helmet..)

The helmet is cast in a whitish-gray, with a white filler (likely) primer on top. They base coated in a silver, with black on top of that, and then another light mist of silver. I am not sure what they used for clear. The ears and vent are cast in a greenish plastic and painted with the same silver color. They then had a brownish black applied on top. The black ear details are painted, not decals.

A seam runs down the middle of the helmet, through the area where the ears attach. The ears seem to be glued on with an acrylic resin.

The first thing I noticed once the paint was removed were all of the spots that had been filled with a yellowish fill in medium along the visor. They correspond to the screw holes where the visor was installed, it seems like they either cracked or perhaps even broke through with the screws when installing the visor. Perhaps that is why they had to remove and reinstall the visor in this particular copy?

The fill in was done very sloppily, and I will have to work on that as I finish sand the rest of the helmet. I also filled in all the screw holes from behind with an epoxy putty.

I apologize for not taking more photos along the process.

Hello guys,

I sent several new emails to mando@efxcollectibles.com and CustomerService@EFXCollectibles.com, asking for an update. I also used the form from the website without success.

But still not a single word/answer from EFX... They keep ignoring my messages since the end of may. I am beginning to doubt about getting that helmet one day...:(

Anybody know an other way to contact them ?
Anybody still waiting for an invoice ?
Did you got any reply from them lately ?

Thanks.

Same here. I did ask a while back about alternate shipping methods, I got an answer but then decided to go with the regular one and paid in full the remaining balance. Since then, no news... Starting to get twitchy.
This is the contact I got a few replies from, though not since early July: Bryan@efxcollectibles.com

Are you sure the email alerting you to pay wasn't sent to your spam?

I'd do the following:

1) Send multiple emails in one day and CC both emails above and Bryan's.
2) I would use their link in their store to complete the actual purchase via credit card to protect myself. Might trigger shipping label.

I would wait one or two months longer for my helmet if I would get 100% one with no flaws or cracks.
