Bespin Carbonite Chamber 1:6 Build

Some of my sizes are off like the hole where the claw resides and the entire ceiling structure needs to be scaled up a touch. figure I don’t have to worry about exact sizes for the individual ceiling fixtures bc I can rescale them after the fact.

You've mentioned a 1/6 scale for that dio...do you know the approximate size of that behemoth?:cool::love::love:

You lucky dog(y)(y) Mine is in the basement and I don't have the chance to hide anything from the wife:lol::lol:(n)(n)
Haha, yeah it’s nice having something like that.. makes it easier to make noise and be engaged without interruptions. Then when I leave I can disconnect. It’s also 50yrds from the house so I don’t have to go too far haha.

Still working the ceiling fixtures. A lot of them are pretty hard to get a good view of and have minimal screen time like this one:

But I think I got it dialed in. Here’s some updated views of the whole build. I’m going to redo the stairs at some point as well. Just not happy with them.

Got these probes knocked out. Looks like they aren’t set in one spot like the other ceiling fixtures and they elevate with the claws from what I could tell.

These never seem to be extended in the film proper (unless footage of them in use was filmed, then cut)—just in publicity photos. Even when the retrieval claw is lowered into the pit, they stay in place.

As an aside, in a bit of a continuity error, the claw goes into the pit when Vader tries to freeze Luke, and stays there for the rest of the scene, but is suddenly retracted back into the ceiling when Vader falls off of the platform.

You could make this into a humidifier, you know.
I like it. I was going to use liquid smoke but having something that’s functional would be pretty wicked. I’ve been toying with some other uses for various parts of the project. I’ve got 3 or 4 ideas running simultaneously with the 1:6 scale build. I’ll post them up once I get the solidworks portion completed. Thanks!

You’re right. Because I’m primarily going off of screen captures, I didn’t notice they are never seen moving. I went back and watched that scene after I read your comment and the probes are never in motion. They just appear at various elevations throughout. Thanks for pointing that out.

Busy last 2 weeks. Jumping back into it this week working on the elevator shaft fixtures/greeblies. I can’t tell what 99.9% of the items are but I’m not going to get too hung up on tracking down every shape in there. These are the main screen shots I’m using. I’m about 50% done with it.

It can be really difficult to tell what things are a lot of times. So I always figure it best to just interpret it best you can. If it looks like to belongs, no one would probably ever question it.
It would be the same with cutting something out in photoshop. My last job, they had me make a banner of different parts for all the concrete forms, to help everyone pick out the right parts.
I had to take all the photos, high res as I could, and then, at home, I'd be zoomed in and like, what the heck am I even looking at???
I realized I should have put down a white sheet or something first....the actual concrete floor, along with some shadows, and whatever else made it more difficult than it should have been.
