Batsuit: Arkham Origins V2

Re: Batman: Arkham Origins Build - Version 2.0

thanks for the compliment. All you need is determination and time.

here is a little update. Finished my utility belt and am making some edits to the battle
damage on the chest and abs. Hope you guys like it because i do. Thanks again for the support and kind words

Thanks for the advice ;) .

This is awesome as always. The belt looks great, even if it's in craft foam. Great work. The battle damage are very nice and impressive. That's a nice idea to create some battle damage on your suit. If I had to create my own suit I'd like it "all new and shinny" but I really like this idea. This add some charme and originallity to your suit and I support it.Keep doing this awesome work !

From France with love !

Hello good, I'm impressed with your cossplay is really amazing, I'm new to this hobby and I would like to make me a suit well. I only speak Spanish so sorry for my bad English, I wanted to ask if you have a flat or PDO for pepakura. I read the post and I see the mask is bought, I wonder where I can get it. thanks for your time.

thanks for the compliment. I love the use of battle damage because I feel it adds a bit more realism to these builds and takes away from some of the cheaper materials that might be in play.

sorry, no pep file or pdo. It was all freehand. With the exception of the belt which I modified using the foam cave files.

Working on the bicep/tricep pieces. Snapped a pic. Still need to slap a few light coats of acrylic but wanted to try them on. Held on with Velcro but need to tighten them up a little bit still. Going to try adding a little elastic strapping between the two and see how it pulls together.

Looking solid man! I love the silhouette of this version. Very menacing! And it looks like you've got the toughest pieces out of the way at this point.

thanks! Actually remaking the gauntlets and decided to wrap them in terraflex as well so they appear solid and hold up better to the battle damage I'm planning to add to them. hopefully it comes out good and I'm not just wasting good thermoplastic.
where he could get the helmet?
Gauntlet FX
AMAZING WORK!!! Hard to believe this is a foam build! Absolutely STUNNING!!!:thumbsup
thanks again Vader!
OMG . This pic is awesome. OK, I say it once again: YOU are Batman for AO !
thanks for the comment. Can't wait till it's finished!
How are the chest and abs connected to each other? Velcro?
Chest and abs are not connected. They are two completely separate pieces as it increases mobility slightly allowing me to bend over and sit a little more comfortably as the chest is able to slightly overlap the abs when doing so. Both are attached via Velcro to the jacket though. Chest also has some additional harnessing straps to keep it flush against the chest. Not sure if the abs require a harnessing strap as well but in the meantime they are supported at the top by velcro and at the bottom by the belt.

Re: Batman: Arkham Origins Build - Version 2.0

Aligning and tightening the bicep/tricep armor as well as have added weathering to both pieces.
Also decided to toughen up my gauntlets and added a layer of terraflex. Game accurate Battle Damage in progress.

Now that's a guy that looks pissed...I think I may now know who to direct any Fan-film directors if they need a live action Arkham Origins Batman role.

Re: Batman: Arkham Origins Build - Version 2.0

Since im looking to create an embossed look around the borders using a thin 3mm foam, I decided to use super glue instead of hot glue. In my previous experience I found that the hot glue would warp the thin layer of foam and actually was quite messy since the coverage area of the border is small as well.
Ive finished cutting the layers and I've glued, heated and shaped the first gauntlet. In my opinion this version looks far better than my original design.
I'll post my current progress as I'm done for the day, but the gauntlet is still not complete however as I still need to add more details, the spikes and straps... as well as a plastidip and acrylic dry brushing.

After this I was able to draw out and cut out a card stock template of the blades.
i then traced it onto some 3mm foam, beveled the edges with the dremel and attached them with super glue.

After this was complete I utilized the time I had to carve out the little sliding switch that appears atop the rear blade. Not sure what it's purpose is but it sure looks cool. :D Almost ready to plastidip this bad boy.

I have a question: After you cut the foam pieces, did you use the process of finishing the gluing and then formed it with a heat-gun or did you roll it on a pole and then finish gluing it? I read the second process on foamcave.com. Because I herd that heating the foam shrinks. Hope I'm not being to whiny. I have a tendency to think that when I ask these sort of questions.

i cut all my pieces first. Then similar to the tutorial you have linked I line up the two layers I'm working with at the time and glue them together down the middle. At that point I'll glue each side down while using a cylinder type base to maintain its shape while pressing it together. I don't use the heat gun at all until I've glued down every piece as it will cause the foam to shrink and pull and it will mess with your alignment.

Ah, So it is then used as a last detailer to open up the scores? Like, let's say I cut a line on a foam, then gently heat it until the line begins to open up.
