Batsuit: Arkham Origins V1

Re: WIP - Batman Arkham Origins

I just realized that I forgot to add some of the scoring detail on the grey ribcage armor plating. Sucks because it's already been painted and glued in so I guess I'll have to skip it. Not a big deal but it will bother me in the back of my mind now and again.

Made the belt. Decided to try adding some acrylics to it and brushing on some scrapes and wear and tear onto the metal. Not exactly happy with results but it's okay.I still need to make the pouches and stuff that hang off the belt though. But the belt at this time is velcroed to the ribs near the back so I can remove it to make alterations if need be. Also added the little armor plates that go on the ribs directly under the arms. And last but not least added that little bow tie thing that is found on the upper chest along with another set of bolts to the sides of the pectorals. Hope you like it so far. More to come.

I agree man your totally killing this build. Your work with the scoring and details is magnificent. Amazing your pulling this off with foam and plastidip.

Thanks man. You and bigbat have kind of inspired me to go the route of building my own cowl. I'll try to start it this Sunday. See how that goes.

Thank you. It's been a process. I really didn't think it would come out how it has been. Cool experience and I got some good advice here.

Amazing work.... great job!
Thank you. :)

Thank you. Decided I need to remove that thing from the top of the chest and make it over. Reference image I used wasn't true to how it was supposed to be. Ugh. Oh well. I'll be constructing it and the neck piece in next few days. More to come.

Re: WIP - Batman Arkham Origins

This is really coming along far better than I expected from a foam project. Doesn't even look like it's foam at all! Really inspiring!!!

Re: WIP - Batman Arkham Origins

Looking great so far dude! I'd like to see a video sometime soon showing mobility of course. That's always the trick to making a good foam build into a great one. :)

The detail you're getting so far is pretty fantastic. Good work!

Being that this is my first time working with foam or building a costume at all its coming out better than I expected as well. And the response I've received fuels me to make it as great as I can. Thank you.

I'll post a video as soon as I get it harnessed to my torso. I plan on adding some straps and snaps this weekend as well as a little detail to the back if required. Haven't had much time to work on it these past few days. Still crossing my fingers to get it done by Halloween. I have it displayed in my hallway nook for the time being and it mocks me as I pass by every morning on my way out to work. Lol. I need to work on it some more... Got the shoulder pieces done at least to balance out the bulk of the torso a little. Hope to get something done today.

Only had a couple mins. I decided to add a crude harness to the chest plate by using a plastic buckle I took off an old backpack and some elastic straps I had around. I glued them from one side of the chest to the other and it works great. I need to add another just like it to the ribcage to keep the armor flush to the skin otherwise it bows out at the abdomen and makes me look like a fat batman. I also started to strap on one of the shoulder plates. Only got as far as attaching one strap before I had to leave to pick the kids up from school.

Looking at my shoulder plate after I mounted it I think I added that lip a little too far down the side. Should have been further towards the top so I could accommodate the second elastic strap that attaches to the chest armor. I'm too far behind in the project to make the shoulders over again. Might have to just omit the second strap or squeeze it in and hope it doesn't look weird. Ugh. I hate when things don't go as planned. Still looks good I think. But it'd gonna bother me a little if I can't fit that second strap on there.

Thanks man. I got both shoulders on there now and a second buckle on the ribs. But looks like I need a third buckle for the panels further below the ribs. They still want to bow out a bit. Unfortunately I'm all of of buckles so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to hit the store up. Having issue because I decided not to make the back panels due to time constraints and the fact that the Cape will hide my back anyhow. But because or that I have nothing to harness the back of the shoulder plates to. So they keep falling forward. I might try running a horizontal strap across my back and anchor them to eachother to see if that works. We will see. Other than that it fits pretty good. Might have to redo the belt a little though. It's not setting right. The way it hangs seems unnatural. But it still needs the pouches. So maybe I'll wait before I tear it up and readjust it. Anyhow I'll keep you all posted.
