Not a whole lot of progress, so I'll just ramble for a minute or two.
In replacing the original hanger 'repros', I discovered that they were screwed into the faceplate. At first, I thought they were glued and almost did some serious damage to the faceplate finish trying to pull one off. Needless to say, I had to fill the holes and repaint those areas. With that done, it was time to have my flightsuit 'taken in'.
I bought a custom made suit that only came in medium or large. I thought better to get too big than to small and I went with large. The arm and leg lengths were ok, but you could fit two of me in the midsection area.
A local tailor here fixed me up and it fits perfectly now. She also said that she could reproduce any suit I wanted for a decent price. Sweet.
I've removed the rear cannisters and I am going to repaint them and maybe get the LED's wired up. The originals appear to be a dark gray with thin, silver trim around the top caps. The right one has a red stripe on top and the left has a black square on the bottom.
I really wish my chestbox wasn't finished. I want the front panel to light up, but I'll have to cut a hole in it. That means cutting through the box and decal and making a perfect rectangle-shaped cutout. I just don't know if I trust myself to make that kind of modification cleanly.
I finally got the commpad painted and plan on assembling it tonight. I thought about just gluing it to the gauntlet, but I think a small bolt with a nut/washer will be more secure.
