TFA Stunt Graflex Faux-flex research thread

The flaps you’re seeing is an Illusion from the curve of the front and back flaps where the pin goes through. I thought the same when I looked the first time, too. I think the bottom of the bunny ear pieces are folded over to double thickness where the inner bulb clamp pieces attach, and it makes it look extra confusing.

You can see it all more clearly here:

The curved “spring” on the bulb clamp is a separate semi-circular piece that isn’t affixed, but held on from pressure.
Yep, you have good eyes, that’s bananas.

I had been considering something like this for the control box on my "mythos" obi-wan saber build - this feels like kismet that I should.

My feeling is that the graflex shell does not have the folded up tabs

Rather, I'm seeing this.

But, I can't figure out how the ears would work.

Edited: We're talking about completely different sabers. I agree that the stunt has no pulled shoulder and the weird slots, but it's a completely different animal than the oversized one I was talking about. Derailed the thread. Sorry.

No. I don't think it's a derail. Are we sure they're made differently, and not just on a different scale?
Look at this photo, I don't see folded tabs on the large saber

I see what you're saying about that photo. But, it still makes me wonder if this is the full picture. In one picture we see folded tabs in the other we don't.

I think it's folded tabs regardless. We can see into the ear assembly and it appears to be a hollow void with a pin through it. There's no light reflecting off metal from the tube like I'd expect if it were built like the stunts. And if there's no metal there, if it's just a rectangular opening, there's nothing that could hold the bulb release in place except for tabs.
