ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

That´s how they are.

But you can´t complain, it´s not that bad for the requested price - and with some tlc they can be improved.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Yeah. definitely not the greatest replicas. In my situation, being in Canada, I'm actually lucky to even have 2. I believe they are the list of Denix replicas 'banned' in Canada. I was able to get mine through customs by fluke.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Like Michael said, The Denix is far from perfect out of the box, but if you take some time, with just files and sand paper, you can really fix it up so it looks much better. If you have a Dremel all the better.

The good news is that it is a Zemac casting, mostly Zink and can be easily filed and can even be soldiered.

I posted some images of the things I did to mine way back in the thread so you can see some possibilities.

...if we get enough interest.. we could make a very accurate aluminum version... Maybe they could be shipped separate top and bottom ?

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

I think that's a ROTJ stunt, it has that Scope mount. The ESB was quite different. I think the Exhibit just has it marked wrong - they're not as serious about props as we are :lol

The labeling is correct. That's an ESB stunt (although I think the same stunts were likely used in ROTJ as well).

The ROTJ heroes were copied from the ESB stunts. That's why they have the same mounting bracket.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Haha, sorry that is what denixes are like. That's why people save up for real mausers, mgcs, or buy mr blasters

Denix or MR - plaque or cholera, just that cholera is more expensive. :lol

Imho it´s better do buy a Denix and spend some effort in making it good looking with nice parts added, than paying to much for a overpriced toy (not to mention some MR Han Blasters were based on the Denix) - but mileage may vary.

Ah, thank you! Never knew, but that makes sense. That's very common in these movies, the stunts turn into hero props later on haha

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

The Denix is more of a toy with the working trigger. MR has a ton more detail. But some key areas are missing detail like the rear sight. What would be best is for someone to cast a few key parts to add to either one. ( rear site, hammer, etc)

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Keep in mind the first MR was a modified Denix. The Elite was much better.

I would love an MGC, but have never found one for sale and probably couldn't afford it if I did.:cry The Denix is what I have to work with.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

I'd even be willing to have some parts in resin since it's gonna be painted anyway.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Well, I just sold a Wilco Models Solo blaster kit a while back. Not sure what it was molded from (Denix, MGC or real mauser), but it might be a source of resin upgrade parts if you can find one.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Bingo. I might replace the entire upper receiver with the resin one. So much more accurate. Only downside is some slight orangepeel in the casting.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

There you go.:thumbsup Don't know how that would hold up if you pull the trigger much? The hammer striking resin might be damaging over time.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

...It has been brought to our attention that some members may not know that they need to add their name to the Sale thread even if they have posted on the interest thread.

Your name and order will not be automatically put on the list. We thought it best since the final prices were not on the interest thread and did not want to assume anything.

To be clear, Once there are enough names on the Sale thread to begin the run, we will supply a link to place your orders directly and easily.

After that, 4-6 weeks later we will have parts in hand !

If you have not put in your order on the SALE thread, please do so as soon as possible.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Does anyone happen to have any other good photos of an ESB/ROTJ stunt DL-44?

I've been trying to incorporate the odd un-machined lump into the Upper of the C96 model and I haven't been able to find any more photos that show that area at angles where I can see the height, length and contour of the lump. Anyone have anymore photos or happened to have taken photos of it at an exhibit?

Thanks for any help guys!

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

The shop is ready now, just waiting for the orders.

Deadbolt is getting ready to link the shop so members can place your orders.

By the way, The shop has graciously agreed to a 10% discount for any orders over $300 so you can mix and match as you like!

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Looks much better now. Difficult to see that from the pics. I had to tap out two pins and remove the screw to get the upper Denix receiver off.

I then had to grind down two nubs so that the new receiver would set level.

The trigger is still spring loaded as well as the hammer. Now to decide if I want to replace the ugly-ass Denix hammer with a resin one?

Looking good, Clutch! Very interesting to see a hybrid Denix.
