Beautiful work! Does the arrow plate need to be filed with a small angle on the back to get rid of this gap?

That should actually be painted, check the reference.
I pulled this over from the MOM thread. Is this the drift mentioned above?

So this, then?

They sure haven't been taking very good care of it.
I know that's not what you meant. I wish you luck with your experiment, and I hope you end up with something that you're happy with.![]()
No filing needed. Screw the control box (without the plastic "canoe") flush on to the hilt before you put on the arrow plate, then attach the arrow plate by lightly tightening the arrow plate screws. This will allow the arrow plate to slide up enough for a flush fit on the control box. Once it is flush you can slowly tighten the arrow plate screws, but the top will bow out slightly. The tension of the plastic canoe will pull the top of the arrow plate back into place.
Ok gang here it is! sorry it took longer to edit and WAAAAAY longer to upload then i thought!
Awesome video! Will there be more? The painting should be pretty darn straightforward, and I can't imagine any other tips or techniques which weren't covered in this first video. Or should I wait before painting and whatnot?
So, if we're planning to represent the prop as it sits today, is there a recommended way to give the hilt that whitish, dull finish you get with old aluminum? The hero doesnt look heavily weathered but the metal definately looks a little faded.
Thank you! 2 more videos, Starkiller gave me the instructions today’s the neck isn’t what you think..
There’s multiple stages with other paints, I’m in communication with him now, making sure I read the directions right. And waiting for amazon to deliver the paint
I personally wouldn’t rush anything and wait for starkiller’s instructions in the video
I’m throwing these projects in front of everything else to get them out as fast as possible. Hoping for complete hero Saturday night, and yuma next Saturday
There’s actually more work to be done to the yuma then hero.. paint wise
Okay, then. I suppose I’ll just sand off the pommel hole’s ring in the meantime, since PrinceZip confirmed that it’s not on the actual hero. Probably just a chuck scratch, as BRRogers speculated. I also knocked back the machining marks between the pommel cubes. While I don’t doubt Anakin Starkiller’s assertion that they’re there, they’re not visible in photos, and so they stand out a bit much in person. I’m going slightly idealized, rather than replicating every nick, scratch, and (in the case of the tour photos) paint chips.
I beg to differ...
