Doc

I can tell you first hand that Doc doesn't do anything small! He has an insane collection and doesn't give a second thought about giving to those in need. :thumbsup

god, I hope that (if we do it) it's not this much hassle this year!!!

It always will be unfortunately. As I said before, the odds are good, but we had almost 90 people participate so there will be bumps guaranteed. What's added to this year's issues and helped dragged it out so long is the site problems. They've distracted both myself and countless other members.

Got a hold of jedi5150. Apparently they've been having postal troubles so I'm trying to sort that out. Also got a hold of ed209's Santa who thought that everything was good. Hoping to sort that one out as well.
Well, it's now February and there's been no package; no update; and no communication.

I do appreciate the effort OB, but honestly at this point I'm willing to just let the whole thing go. I'd rather know there's nothing coming, than keep expecting something week after week.

And I know there are others on here who would step up and take over the responsibility, but regrettably I just don't care anymore. Repetitive disappointment tends to do that to people.

So thanks again for the time and energy you put into this, but consider me done with this.

That makes me very sad. :(

Sorry I haven't been more diligent the past couple weeks guys, I'm fighting pneumonia and it has me wiped.

I'll be mailing out some gifts soon. Ed is right, it's been WAY too long and that's my fault.

Your the last person that should be sorry for this, the people that bailed and dropped the ball should shoulder all the blame.
LMK if you need more help. I'm down with that. :)

No reason at all for you to be sorry. You've handled this far better and have been more dedicated to the project than I ever could have been. Definite kudos to you for all your hard work.

You have no control over what others do, and you can't possibly know if they're telling you the truth or just what they think you want to hear when you communicate with them. We all eventually get caught in the "The check is in the mail" routine now and then. It's no fault of yours.

As I said before, I'm grateful for you and for what you put together here. I'll be glad to participate next year; I just hope the end result will be different next time around.

I to don't want to put any pressure on you matey, sounds like your having a rough time, just leave the replacement for me to, i'll gladly join in again next year, get yourself well

I'd like to publicly thank Orange_Blend for running the Secret Santa this year, and all of the work he's put into trying to run down all the bumps. As of tonight, I still haven't received anything. Keeping my fingers crossed for this coming week. :)

Thanks guys, I know it's not actually my fault that people haven't received but I do feel responsible and doubly bad that I haven't been able to be vigilant lately. :(

Next year I'll have some definite cut off dates. As for the people left yet to receive there are three "lost in the mail", two of which are re-sending (receivers have been informed) and one who told me what they got them but won't send another gift in the hopes that it will arrive.

Sorting out the rest now. :(

Can you please clarify who's is "lost in the mail" as I count 3 just with myself, frosty and ed209 that have not received yet....I too am very appreciative of the time, and energy that you have put into this project.

The remaining folks fall into three categories:

"Lost in the mail"

- ed209
- jedi5150
- jimjimmyjones30

Two are being re-sent, sadly ed209's is not. He has a new Santa though despite the fact that he doesn't want one.

"Deadbeat Santa"

- frosty

He now has a new Santa. VERY frustrating but we'll sort him out.

"Still hasn't mailed (at least from my last contact)"

- wildabeast

Even more frustrating than a deadbeat Santa. I've sent a final note to your Santa to ask what's going on before I add you to the list with Frosty and assign you a new Santa. I've VERY sorry for this. It's FEBRUARY and it's been too long.

I'm learning a few lessons from this year and I'm sorry that you guys have to be the collateral damage of that. Next year there will be firm deadlines and photo evidence requirements. "Lost in the mail" with no photo, receipt, etc. will not be an acceptable excuse.

I know how you feel bro. Hang in there. I know it's easier just to forget about it, but I hope it doesn't keep you from returning.

Thanks for all your doing bro.

I think there needs to be a little extra added next year and what you mentioned should be just the ticket. :thumbsup

Maybe next year you should get a helper OB, someone who can take on answering emails and confirming? Especially if there is this many people next year you could split it in half. People 1-40 you focus on and 41-80 the other person focuses on. I know if I were running this thing and had all of this on my shoulders I would think long and hard about doing it again next year just because of the stress lol but you may be better at handling it then I would be. Although I know that finding another reliable person who would be willing to put in the time during a major holiday may be slim.

Playing it by ear but I would be happy to help share the load. currently I am unemployed but If I get a job then that might change things although I tend to doubt it. For something like this I would make the time. Especially to help out OA! :)
