2011 RPF Secret Santa Gift Exchange (sign up has closed)

Well, I haven't received anything yet; but if my SS is having some sort of struggle, then I completely understand and don't want to hold him/her to this. Throughout my life I've experienced all too often those "setbacks" that rob you of your hopes, dreams and best intentions. I don't want to be another pressure on this person's life, especially for something started in good spirit. If my SS is reading this and has had to put the whole gift giving to a stranger on hold, then it's completely forgivable and it's completely okay.

This doesn't take anything away from the fun of watching this thread or from the great job OB has done. You can count on me again next year, but for this year consider my gift satisfied based on intent, not on an actual item.

DHL just returned my SS gift sent to "Lucky Nm Slevin" (Mitchell Laine) so I'm happy he didn't end up getting anything! So at least that worked out!

Your Santa was one of the ones that said they shipped at a decent time so I think it might be lost in the mail. It's been hard getting a hold of people since the hacking and I DO have faith in this person. I'm really hoping I can reach them soon. If not I've already had someone specifically request to send you something. Nobody is going without even if they're fine with it!

Oh man! So I finally had time to take pics and get them onto my comp so I can post here! Here they are!! Again I received a custom tardis key necklace and a custom Romana Sonic Screwdriver that was partially inspired by her design and also made specifically with/for me in mind.

Looky at the pretty pictures....I have to admit I think it turned out pretty snazzy.

There is a hidden pun/secret/whatever in the sonic. I wasn't going to mention it, as it was a bit silly in my mind (more silly that the poetry that accompanied the gift}. That and it was more for me than EveningArwen, but someone asked me could I replicate the base handle for the versions that I have for sale in the Junkyard. And no I will not replicate this design, in case anyone wonders.

When designing the base of Sonic, I remembered that the character Arwen in the Tolkien books was also called "Evenstar". So I wanted to incorporate the star into the sonic in a way that would be detracting.

There are 5 channels in the base on the sonic, and the positioning of them correlate with the points of a star. Or as close as you can doing this by hand.

The Necklace was an entirely different beast. Jewelry design and beading are not one of my strong points. But it was fun to try and the end result looks like a necklace.

I am glad you like the gifts EveningArwen, and I apologize again for subjecting you to horrible poetry. I think you an dbalschi can start a support group.

So first off I want to thank everyone who had a hand in getting all this stuff straightened out, especially OB and everyone who offered to send to those of us who missed out.

Alright folks, it's almost FEBRUARY now so here's where I stand:

I have confirmation that my package went to Batmansdog's post office the day before x-mas. I custom made a Ghostbusters trap to hold a working retro bluetooth phone. This was a secret santa so I have no grounds to be upset that my gift wasn't lavishly and publicly praised.
I am happy about the considerable time and money (overseas shipping) I spent.
I am bummed that I spent so much time checking this thread to find out that my guy never thought to acknowledge receipt. I hope he is OK.

No need to change the format of this great idea. I greatly enjoyed peeking in on other people's gifts.

Nope, Joeranger posted pics of his own gift when he realized his recipient wasn't going to. His recipient hasn't been on since long before Christmas.

Just wanted to give a last shout out to OB for working so long and hard to make sure EVERYONE was taken care of. I really enjoyed this, even with the slight setback of those that had to wait (for me it was more than worth the wait)
