2001: ASO Clavius Suit

Just went through this thread. Great work on this, it looks terrific.

I want to see these auction photos of the suit that are referred to in the thread but the link provided earlier isn't active anymore. Does anyone have another place to see these?
Try this link? Julien's - Flip Through Catalogue this should let you download the auction item catalogue. make sure it's the one with the close up of Dave on the cover, it has the complete set of photos. I also had downloaded higher rez images that don't seem like they are available online. attached is an example>

Thank you. I downloaded the catalog. If you ever post the rest of the hi-rez images online, I'd love to get those too.

I just compared your backpack to some images of a screen-used example and I'm very impressed. A lot of replicas get close but something about the proportions or where the details are in relation to others is usually out of whack. But on yours, wherever a corner or line intersects with another detail seems to be spot on. I can really tell you were closely scrutinizing the little things.

A quick look at progress... a few more laser cut items and I'll start priming, puttying, sanding, repeat...

I'm doing some similar upgrades to details like the helmet instead of screen accurate, like the use of windows with "displays" instead of painted on, and integrating the hinge a bit cleaner into the top.

Wow!! What an update:cool::cool: What kind of paint are you going to use for the alu parts of the
I bought the Clavius Base decals of of EBAY, wanted the blue to be the same and found that Rustoleum Sail Blue is a great match. Its maybe not quite screen accurate, but looks the part in person. As I did with the blue parts of the helmet, I plan to build up a thick surface of many blue coats, wet sand, then satin clear coat. The finish is really nice on the helmet parts done this way.

I meant the aluminium/metal parts applied to the back/front packs;)

Oh...I'm getting great results with SpazStix paints. so the same paint I used on the neck ring and antenna...Gloss black backer paint, hit with the chrome and polish.
Got it ;) If, after all that, you decide to sell parts of the suit...I'll be interested for sure(y)

Really love this thread, just very annoyed with myself for being very late to the gig. Back in 2005 one of the white helmets was sold on E-Bay for $21,000. My friend recorded all the sales photos (at a time before I could open a file on a PC haha) Please find attached here for reference. Thank you for the great thread.

Ok. Switching gears from sanding 3d prints, my mother-n-law helped me do some sewing. The shoulders are a bit off, and I still need to sew on the neck and zipper, and trim the cuffs, but overall really pleased.
