You have never seen the Blade Runner blaster before - PHOTOS RESTORED

Personally, I don't think the seller even has the right to tell me what I can and can't do with the object after I purchase it. I paid for it, it's mine and I can do what I want with it.
[/b]

I think that's a great question, and a perfectly relevent point. The points been made before, but you put it in strong and very direct terms.

My answer would have to be: You're right.

But, Richard and Phil have business and personal politics to deal with, Richard is looking to corner the market, and obviously they don't agree with your summation, IMHO, based on thier many posts in this thread. It's just been explained poorly across 25 pages of this thread.

NOW, did Richard have any right to ask for the photos to be removed? Nope. But Karl chose to do it anyway, and at the end of the day, Karl is a stand up guy and I have no truck with him whatsoever.

Like I said before, this really isn't any of my business, but hey, it's a way to pass the time on a friday morning. :confused

"Have no truck with" means "have no dealings with" or "have no association with." Is this what you meant?

Means I have no problems with him.

I don't have dealings with or association with any body, my posts are just about the problems I'm having with the actions taken here.

But I'm bowing out of the thread now too.

:cry

The only thing that surpises me here is philippes basically posted publically that the gun pictured could very well be one of two illegally made firearms by being steel copies. I'm quite sure that got a few owners and production crew loins twitching ;)

I think we're missing the point here.Karl got some pics of the prop, We saw them,The owner ask to have them remove,He did.Now everyone is blaming Phil for somethimg he had no control over and now people are attacking him for no reason? Come on guy. This is getting a little out of hand.Stick to the subject at hand or just take it some where else.Alright. We saw the pics and we know that the prop is still out there.Thats all.But thats just my 2 cents worth. :cheers :thumbsup thanks

If you want validation that the gun IS INDEED the real deal, you need not look any further than our very own forum. I just now ran across this myself...

In the costuming section, look for the BR coat thread, if you look at the publicity shots of Ford, you'll the the pistol in his holster. Well, if you look at the weathering on the butt, it matches the pics that were shown in this thread PERFECTLY. In respect to Karl, I'm not posting the pic he took showing this, but if you have them, put it side by side with these pics and see for yourself. :)

Beeb, RKW was not addressing the validity of the posted gun. I don't think anyone had any doubts on that score, and the wear pattern on the buttplate was, I am sure, high on the checklist of anyone who cares about this prop. ;)

I think Phil meant that the production itself used illegal firearms (cast from the first hero).

Oh no. Why did you post those photos, Beeb?

Now all the secrets of Deckard's TIE are revealed. :cry

Casting a gun/receiver is NOT illegal if the gun cannot fire a round. It is difficult to reproduce a working rifle receiver that will sustain chamber pressures, fit the bolt and trigger assemblies, etc. allowing both to function, have a firing mechanism, etc. etc. I deal with ATF/BATFE and state firearms regs all the time. That is akin to saying all those who have an M41 Pulse rifle or E11 blaster that had a cast metal receiver or metal tube receiver duplicating the Thompson SMG or the Sterling respectively are in violation. Not so. If the receiver or replica gun cannot fire a round and cannot reasonably be modified to fire a round then there is no violation of firearms law. I have been licensed by the ATF/BATFE and the state for over 20 years.

Unless that replica receiver was made of firearms grade metal, and was precisely machined to take the real trigger assembly and bolt, threaded for a barrel, etc. it would be ignored. I know and work with famous/semi famous/virtually unknown weapons prop guys and they know the rules. They also wouldn't spend the time and money over engineering and over building a prop gun part that is not designed to function. Those of you who have seen my metal receiver prop guns at the prop shows know what I mean. The have full metal construction, have some real gun components, but are totally legal for a civilian to have. The only way one would injure you is if it fell on your foot.

While the image of (female) "... owners and production crew loins twitching" is appealing, having a casted gun receiver that won't fire a bullet wouldn't be the cause.

From what he said he does: it is a license to thrill

Rich

When I'm not doing my regular job, my side job often includes experimenting with guns and explosive. Here I am doing some "moonlighting" experimenting with both:

Yep, thrills.

Licensed to sell guns (side job) and build real and prop guns such as:

greasegunLoRez.jpg

This gun is being parkerized. It is 90% all real gun. It has a metal receiver, retractable bolt, etc. etc. It is of no interest to the BATFE and anyone can own it. It is a cool looking paperweight. A cast Steyr receiver would probably be even less of a threat.

Holy Crap on a wafer.............. :eek

That looks like so much fun I would not even be able to stand still.

Two of my favorite things, right there in one photo..... :lol

Is that a license to . . . kill?
[/b][/quote]

Nawww...I'm a full time cop, and in my jurisdiction some of the whiners think having a badge is a license to kill. The ATF/BATFE license is for dealing in live firearms.

It is a target bus. We shoot it with machineguns, 40mm mortars, even an M134 minigun (yep...I'm the guy with the miniguns that pop up here now and again). We painted it white because we thought it would be bad PR for us to be filmed shooting a "yellow school bus." We painted "Terrorist Express" and stuff on it.

Sounds great Alex.
Any moving parts?

This thread has made me get out my Doppleganger kit and finally build it.
I'm glad I waited.

I'm glad that I got captures of all the pictures I needed. Time to break out the Bulldog and one of my Steyrs (again) and retool my BR kit. Alex

When I first saw the bus, I thought, "That looks like a school bus." But then I thought, "Naw, it's not yellow."

Smart choice to repaint it. :) :thumbsup

You can't see the yellow school bus in the pic for all the fire engulfing it :D

Looks a bit close for a scoped rifle ;)
