This thread has made me get out my Doppleganger kit and finally build it.
I'm glad I waited.
[/b]

Me too. I've had one sitting in the closet for some time now, and I just pulled it out 2 days ago and started dry fitting parts.

I never got to save the pics. :unsure

Well, this all stinks to high hell anyway, so I went out and bought some glad plug ins. :lol

We painted it white because we thought it would be bad PR for us to be filmed shooting a "yellow school bus."
[/b]

C'mon. Tell the truth.

Thats the "Partridge Family" Bus and you guys had a blast blowing the crap out of it. :p

I just finished reading reading this thread and I must say that it is sad that that things like this still happen. I got to tell you that this reminds me of elementary school days when the bullies were fighting over the sandbox. Yes I am new here and but have been prop/gun collecting for many years. What I see here is someones attempt to stay king of the sandbox and a desperate one at that. You can't tell someone to remove pics here and then tell them to check out there website for an article with pics. And that Ebay thing, that was a total insult on our intelligence. Lets see how long it takes "them" to put the Ultimate version on ebay. This rumor about illegal steel castings if the hero gun, total crap, I have seen the hero and it is no casting. In my opinion the King Is dead, we live in a world of information and the info is out there for all to see. Kings come and go, and when the time comes that a King can no longer control his kingdom he will gracefully step down, and that's definitely not happening here.

:angry

rmtndndo you kind of missed a lot in your first read. There is no connection between the request to take down the pics and any website.

Your expert ability to tell a casting from an original Steyr receiver notwithstanding, what is your basis for stating that no such castings were made during the production? Were you involved, or do you have connections with people who were?

I don't think anyone has stated that the particular gun seen here had a cast receiver.

There is no evidence that "THEY" (presumeably the fellow high-end collectors who were disturbed at the posting of the pictures) have any desire for replicas to come out.

I would urge you to be more careful in your reading about a situation before you go fanning the flames.

I never stated that what I posted was "Fact" but then again niether has anyone else. and as for the castings. I've worked in the industry and the expence to do that is astronomical for just two pieces, and I do own a Steyr can tell the difference from a casting and the real deal. Lets just say that thats "my opinion" not fact on this thread. One more thing I feel that thats a pretty bold statement to say "As for my model making, I know I can not control, stop of do any thing but OUT DO others. Interesting to see what the future brings.

I thought people were talking about 2 out of three possible heros being casted off of the first one for the Styer parts? Not that all of the heros being casts.

It's not bold at all given that to date no one has challenged his level of accuracy, and in fact the only current competition to him in the marketplace aren't even as accurate as his previous generation.

Although I've had my quibbles with Rich's guns, I don't see anyone rivaling his commitment to accuracy on these things, so rather than wait around for yet another vendor to appear on the horizon and hope they care about the details, I've decided that now that I want one of these, the best way to go about it is to harass poor Rich about details before the next generation is done. ;)

Richard,

Can you elaborate on this:

<div class='quotetop'></div>
Dear Fiends,

Sorry for the worry and delay.

I was unsure what was going to happen and how bad it might become.

But it looks clear ahead and I wanted to tell you we are a go.

We will be doing the Plastic model 5 and then the Metal Version ASAP.[/b]

So it was BAD enough to ask Karl to take the pictures down, but not BAD enough to stop you announcing by private email that you were going ahead with the replica, 3 days after you closed your interest thread out of 'respect' for the owner of the gun?

After you admitted you wanted to control the market?

Did the mysterious caller get back in contact and give you the go ahead to copy the gun, but not put the pictures back up?

Friends,

I have been in this game from 1977 the year of Star Wars,

I know a few things to be totally true:

You cannot put the MOOO back in the cow.

You cannot reassemble a soft uncooked egg.

You cannot control prop collectors.

You cannot control prop makers.

You cannot stop recasters.
There will always be someone who price is God and will buy the cheapest junk and not care where it came from.

You cannot hunt down every computer and hard drive in the world and delete all those pictures that were right clicked and saved.

As to why the owner asked me to pull the photos 10 days later, I do not know.

It is that simple.

Rich

Friends,

I personally want the pictures back up.

I never said I was pulling the thread out of respect of the owner; I pulled it out of fear of a C&D and possible lawsuit.

When I was told that was very unlikely I yelled “Hooray” and email everyone the “All Clear”.

It is that simple.

Rich

Why can't you post your pics then?

Arthur
