Friends,

I personally want the pictures back up.

I never said I was pulling the thread out of respect of the owner; I pulled it out of fear of a C&D and possible lawsuit.

When I was told that was very unlikely I yelled “Hooray” and email everyone the “All Clear”.

It is that simple.

Rich

Why can't you post your pics then?

I'm puzzled. Who could possibly issue a lawsuit, other than the studios?

I am still under the request not to.

He said nothing about the models, but if we keep talking about them he may yet.

Rich

So, Karl could repost his pictures then? Cool. I'd love to see them back up.

The pictures were never Richards to pull.

Or what? What's he going to do? Sue you for putting pictures up on an internet forum?

Rich, Phil said this guy HATES Ebay. What's he gonna do when the guns turn up there?

Unless this guy own the rights to the gun, he can't sue for squat.

Viacom did what? Sued you for asking people to remove pictures??

:confused
[/b]

I think Viacom blitzed websites for unofficial Trek photos. C&D'd them. But they had copyright. Does this guy own copyright on the gun?

I'm not sure what you mean by "models".

If you mean replicas of the blaster, does that mean we're not allowed to talk about replicas on the RPF?

Arthur

Let's just advertise every possible sorespot and destroy every possible attempt at subtlety so that there will be the greatest possible likelihood that someone with an official interest, or with contacts with official interests, will get fed up and do something.

Why don't those of you who are consumed with suspicion about Rich appoint one person to ask your questions of him directly and privately, so that this parade of provocations can cease before further damage is done.

With respect, Serafino, you are not a moderator. If the perception of a C&D is so high, it is my opinion that this project SHOULD NOT go ahead, it is dangerous to this forum. What happens when the show off threads start? Or are we all to be held under another ridiculous NDA?

I asked 2 straightforward questions, my only 2 posts in a 31 page thread.

I honestly was unsure what Rich meant by models. He sometimes has trouble making a clear point.

I have hardly been a "complainer" in this thread.

So please PM everyone else who has posted to this thread with real complaints before you take it upon yourself to scold me privately.

Nothing that I said requires me to be a moderator. Why bring in a red herring?

As to perceptions--this is a very layered hobby in terms of visibility, and things go on on one level which would not be a great idea on another level. One man shows off his sculpts of famous faces and people rave about the examples of his work which are sitting in their den, another man shows off his sculpts with less subtlety and gets shut down.

I think danger to the forum is another serious red herring (since when does a show-off thread put the forum at risk???), particularly as the situation now stands.

PM sent.

TOKI--I am very sorry you felt my PM was 'scolding' in tone. That was far from my intention. I invite anyone to request a copy of my PM to you so that they can see for themselves that your characterization of it as 'scolding' is not really warranted.

It's not necessarily the words you used.

It's that you decided to contact via PM one of the least vocal voices in this thread and announce it to everyone.

Perception is reality.

The fact is if this is supposed to be kept quiet, perhaps you should suggest to Rich that he should not make a public announcement as to his production of the replica.

Because you seem tobe trying to direct what should be said on and off board. Why send PMs all over the place when you can speak here.

I was being facetious, really, because I don't believe the big, bad, wolf even exists. But, assuming he does, for a moment, let's go back to Rich's Viacom example. All this C&D stuff is frankly a hollow man anyway. I don't buy into a word of it. This will be a high-profile prop, just like any other Rich Coyle product.

Just off to read it. I hope it isn't scolding :)

Perception is very often NOT reality, which is why we must all struggle to ensure we judge as objectively as possible.

I sent you a PM in hopes of avoiding further public discusion of these issues if possible, and in hopes of explaining my P.O.V. and perhaps answering your question. I had no sensation of disapproval for you or scolding you whatsoever.

I announced it simply to show that someone was attempting to answer you, so that others might not feel the need. Not in any way to 'shame' you or however you see it.

As to public or private or whatever, I've had my say and I know there's little point in saying more. The RPF culture will do what it does and go where it goes, so I'll try to end my little sidetrip into its politics here, with apologies to anyone whose feathers I have inadvertently ruffled. :)
