Awesome! I think the shin guards/straps should cover up most the the disco sparkles on the pants.
Are you going to be covering the blade of your sword in reflective tape for pictures?

I'm not sure how well that would work with the sword I'm planning to use:
It's made of polyurethane foam with a metal core (the con I'm attending has pretty strict rules on prop weapons). The first thing to do would be to repaint it, and perhaps wrap the handle in actual cloth. The reflective tape would mean I wouldn't have to paint the blade, but I don't know if it would stick well.

Maybe if you gave the blade a coat of Plasti-Dip?.... Whatever you do,it's turning out pretty cool!

Here's the current state of the chestplate.
The back was a little tricky. Yoshimitsu's in-game model has a completely different back-plate than his HD render, and all images I've managed to find of his back fluctuate between the two designs. I decided to take aspects I liked from both and roll them into one.

That's good ol' fashioned hot glue. It's a little lumpy and uneven right now, but I'm sure I can make it look fancy with a good paint job.

I decided to fiberglass the helmet form, rather than go through the molding and casting process. To get the helmet off the headform, I had to cut the faceplate off.
The dome and the faceplate have both been fiberglassed, but I didn't get any pictures.

This is coming along really good. :thumbsup
Don't worry about the helmet being 2 parts. It is kind of like Darth Vader that way. Now if it gets too hot you can just detach the mask. Honestly it seems like an advantage rather than a hindrance.
The only real disadvantage is you cant sell me a cast now :lol.
Are you going to sand the dome a bit more? It looks a bit lumpy in the picture.

I only separated it so it would be easier to fiberglass. It's back to one piece, but now I'm regretting it. Guess I'll just have to deal with a sweaty head :lol And I'll probably sand the dome a bit more, but the lumps give it a pseudo-organic bone look that I feel fits the motif of the armor.

All the armor has been assembled:
On top of that, I somehow managed to get it all plasti-dipped last night.
The helmet has gotten its final layer of fiberglass (inside only), and a finishing coat of polyurethane:
Time for paint!

Slightly larger than usual update! I've gotten the helmet painted, and installed some painted screen for the eyes. The only things missing are the cheek plates and ear guards.
I decided to make my own sword from foam, rather than spend $15 on one of questionable quality.
I think it already looks much better than the foam sword I was planning on buying. Thoughts?

I love the helmet colors! The sword's looking good already. What did you use to get that nice rounded divot in the sword to get the stick in?
