Y-Wing Building

Well, since I am building Galactica replicas and its known they used the left over kits from ANH on them ( as well as new kits ) they did use a few motorcycles on the studio models from TOS Galactica.
The Galactica and Galactica shuttle sport them so its possible they had them for ANH. Isn't the Tamiya Yamaha Midnight Special a Y-Wing kit?

From the confirmed Y donor kits none have pre-dated 1974. I look up through 1976 era kits however to be on the safe side. What is the release date of the Yamaha Midnight Special?

has anyone look through the 1/4 scale kawasaki 4 cylender engine kit I beleive this was used for the falcon prototype
its a big kit. I have seen the yamaha kit recently so it must be a rerelease? as the priceof the kit is 39.99 or so

I didn't know those were replacement parts... Even still, I looked through some more and found some Tamiya kits that had those as well. Nothing right on, but close enough if someone likes those guns better.

boatbuilder,

The box tops are open, and the parts are in bags. The japanese are very trustworthy people and I am probably one of two americans who would even go in there. The rest just care about getting drunk and acting foolish. They don't worry about people stealing because that's just not done around here (by the japanese). It is considered very dishonorable to steal. Still, there are some kits that are shrinkwrapped, too - like imported ones. I know the brand new kits that are sold at department stores are always open.

Hey, I don't have a picture, but you can look through the studioscale kit scans page. What I see in the Sealab is a piece that goes in the rear thrust vectrals. It looks like a roof truss. If you weren't going to cast parts you would need 4 kits, as one kit only has one half. Does anyone see which part I am talking about?

is it a solid peice or or does it have spaces (holes) in it I have the kit and can scan it in at a better res if I knew which one you talking about

ca

ok I will scan it in and post this eveneing
here it is

here is another look at the two styles of vector vanes IMO
vectorvanes.jpg

tha one with holes in it could be from the sdkfz 7/1 chassis part

Well there it is... that is the right part, isn't it? The yellow piece in the vectrals in the Chronicles pic? Funny thing though, this one doesn't have it:

The one in the Tech Journal is the one that has it. Maybe the RED one too, but I'd have to look it up.

Yes, that is the one. However, I don't think that the Tamiya Tank Recovery set is the correct part. I may have to look again, but it didn't seem right to me...

BTW, what pic is that one on the right from?

The current release of the tank recovery kit is indeed wrong. The holes have the wrong spacing. I don't know if that means the kit had different tooling in '76 or if it's a complete dead end.

Just curious, what info do you have that indicates the Tank Recovery set was available in 1976?

I was speculating on the recovery vehicle but I do have the sdkfz 7/1 7 ton semi tracked vehilce with flak paltform tamiya and there is a chassis part that has the right outline and spacing of holes as soon as I can find it I will post it
I should just get all the instruction booklets out of the kits and keep those close to the pc they ahve the parts trees on them so id parts would work from those

hey gang I know this is a long shot on this subject but I would like some help with this part

Check out the 1/72 Bristol F2b, look at the exhaust pipes mid page: http://www.rodenplant.com/HTML/043.htm

Airfix has been making this kit a long time.

At first I thought it might be the Airco RE8 exhaust as it already has a 90 degree bend, but the headers are not correct.
