Would you pre-order from eFx?

My question as a customer is, which forum am I supposed to monitor for an update?
Which employees are authorized to speak for the company?

It isn't that I don't believe a post directly from Bryan. How am I supposed to know it is there?

Valid point. Bryan stated that customers that pre ordered will be getting an email update and the website will also be updated as well.

From an email from Brian on 2 Feb 2012: (concerning the TIE)
"We will be sending out an update with more information shortly."

Really? What's your point? Bryan isn't going to give us an update? You’ll believe it when you see it? I thought we've been over this before? He is the link between us and eFX and he had something serious come up in his life that prevented him from getting out your precious update - hang on doc, I got to get out of bed so I can post an update for h3pilot*.

This is the exact reason that I keep thinking on my way to a family vacation.

I'm done bumping your thread. I can't believe I even attempted to reason with the unreasonable.

I will go back to the real world with real worries and real problems and you can stay here where apparently the cyber space sky is falling.

Now hang on, let's not be melodramatic. We're not talking heavy lifting, here. Any web update can be done in bed nowadays via a laptop, iPad or web based phone. Unless he doesn't have any of these (which I find hard to believe) or he's in a coma, he doesn't have to get out of bed to give updates.

Thanks guys. Now, I'm stuck with a mental picture of a naked Shelley Duvall that I can't shake. :sick

This is a fallacy in that even in numbers of 1000, that is not considered high "production" numbers for a factory.

So these items land in more of a custom manufacturing idiom and business model.

And plenty of "real" companies take non-refundable deposits for custom items to be built.

I worked for twenty years building industrial prototypes and tradeshow gear.

Common practice.

Hi Mic,

i know that, it´s part of my job.

But with a "real" company there would be a contract with such things as contractual penalty if deadlines are missed, or if promised properties are not met in the promised timeframe. The contracted price is fixed, no matter if my r&d has increased to my first calculation.

And there it doesn´t matter if someone is ill, there are always other persons to do the job if neccessary. Not fiddle about with the stuff and ignoring the customer - thinking he has to accept that cause he has no other option if he wants that certain item. All that is (for me) the difference between a company and a hobby.

Just to make it sure: I´m not talking explicit about EFX, more generally - in my book all that has to be valid for every company.

I guess my point is that Bryan and I must have a different idea of "shortly".
Mine is less than three months. Just my opinion.
I'm really sorry if that sounds "unreasonable" to you.

My best friend is soul heir to a MAJOR American company...

WTH does that have to do with a small boutique type company making products with accuracy and quality pioneering it's way?

Nothing.

It's apples and baseball.

Now if you work for QMX... Maybe you have a point!

If you work for wal-mart... You don't.

Sure it has, these rules should apply to any company that is more than a shed in the backyard.

It would be great if such discussions would be based on more than "Oh god, i like the stuff so much, i want it, i need it .... how dare anybody to say more than only good things about XYZ"

Not sure if it´s cause i do such business stuff on a daily basis and it´s gone into my blood, or cause i´m not that fanatic about these toys, i just like to build this stuff to relax from the office. And due to not being fanatic i can easily resist from any offered product that doesn´t meets completly to my specs. But i would prefer more professionalism in this small business, too. It´s all a commodity, no matter if cars, props, chemicals or food or any other product to trade.

Licht, I always notice and usually are in full agreement with your posts, and in no way have any prob with you! :)

I really am curious as to who you work for?

You can pm me, or if you don't think it's any of my business, that's understandable! ;)

Just curious.

May be a German company I've never heard of... May be Porsche??? :love

I understand what you are saying, I just think these guys are having some unforeseen obstacles in the begining stages of the 2 products in question...

:confused

I mentioned I was banned from RS for suggesting that their censorship (locking/deleting) of unflattering eFx posts was because of advertising income from eFx. Not for bashing eFx.

A point of fact. You were suspended for bashing eFX in the Rebelscum forum. You were banned for registering a socks account and continuing to bash them.

I receive no advertising income from eFX. Never have.

I've long had a rule that bashing licensees serves no purpose and only stirs the pot, and that's not what the community is about. Bashing is nothing but a big circle jerk. Thinking it can do more good than harm is well, not really thinking.

This thread is no different that those you started on Rebelscum.

Your self-serving reference to military duty, only serves to harm the terrific respect I have for those that serve our county. Shame on you for attempting to use that to your advantage.

Ken,

i hope it doesn´t sounded offensive - i´m just dissapointed with so many post here that are full of feelings and calling names, were some impartiality would be great.

I have nothing to win with EFX, and they have never dissapointed me.

My posts are strictly regarding the original question "Would you pre-order from eFx" - and the answer is "no", for the points i´ve given. It would be the same if the question would have been "Would you pre-order from XYZ", if they take money in advance in such a way. As mentioned - pre-order is great, waiting is no problem, communication would be great, but pre-payment and waiting is a bad combination (for me).

No, not Porsche - Germany is small, but not small enough that every second is working there. :lol The machining company of a friend delivers parts that end in the Porsche (and BMW/Mercedes, ......), but i have nothing to do with them. You got a pm about that. :)

Well, that tells me my spidey sense is still working...

Anyone been to eFx website in the last couple of days?

Updates on the first page. I'd say a TIE update coming!

Love this! eFX Inc. - ANH DARTH VADER HELMET - LEGEND EDITION

Droooooooool!! :love

Everything I've gotten from eFX has been pre-ordered directly from them. (X-Wing SS, TESB Luke Helmet, Luke reveal saber and ANH Luke helmet)
I have recieved each of them, even though it took longer than expected. But sometimes you have to wait for something to be done right.
I didn't mind the wait then but I do think that next time I will order from a authorized retailer if they come out with anything else that I want *cough* 82 Tron Helmet *cough*

The EFX nautiluses have been making it to distributors this week. Only 300 of them made.

Phil,

Please quote something that I have posted that you consider BASHING.

I really am new to forums and obviously don't have a clue about what YOU consider bashing.
I have not intentionally posted anything malicious, profane, or untrue. About eFx or anything else. I've posted things I LIKE about eFx and corrected other peoples' exaggerated negative posts.
I've already posted in this tread that it has gone off topic. Pg 7 #158.

I apologize if I was incorrect in thinking that advertising was the reason for your forum censorship.
What is the reason for suppressing anything negative (yet true) about eFx then?
You certainly do have them scared to criticize eFx over there though.

I'm not sure how mentioning my previous job is self serving. What is it that I gain?

There is even a "What do you do?" thread on YOUR FORUM. :lol

Someone questioned how I just joined the RPF forums and someone else's post inferred that I probably worked for a competing prop company. I was just pointing out that I did not.
I retired from the US Navy in 2011 as a Commander, after over 20 years as a pilot. I'm proud of that. Why do I need to conceal that?
