Would you pre-order from eFx?

From my few interactions with him and from the many accounts that I’ve heard from others, he’s a real stand-up guy. Fact is, he runs a small company that he’s passionate about. He had an illness that took him out of commission for a while. He’s back and said he will catch up on everything as soon as he can.

And that is really good enough for you?

This time he´s ill and now catching up. But what happens when he has a accident that takes him completly out of the game? Sorry to all customers, please go home and speak a prayer?

Again - such is not the behaviour of a company, that´s something else.

It´s easy - don´t take peoples money if you have no product to deliver. Use your own money, take your own risk, develope, fabricate, store the stuff - and when you can deliver, then ask for money.

It´s not that his stuff isn´t wanted and he would take a big risk of sitting on them for a endless time, so that he needs the pre-payment to handcuff the customers - it would sell, he would just use his own money in advance. Not as comfortable as using the happily delivered $ of fanatic customers.

Delays are also a separate issue from communication in my opinion.

Indeed, they are.

While the former is a fact of life at all levels in this industry, it is the latter that makes ALL the difference in how the majority of consumers perceive one vendor / company differently from another.

This is a fallacy in that even in numbers of 1000, that is not considered high "production" numbers for a factory.

So these items land in more of a custom manufacturing idiom and business model.

And plenty of "real" companies take non-refundable deposits for custom items to be built.

I worked for twenty years building industrial prototypes and tradeshow gear.

Common practice.

First off Bucky don't misquote me as I never posted what you have highlighted

Second if you actually READ my posts and it is clear you have not as evidenced by your blatent misquote of me I do not speak for the Company if I did i would have a title next to my name.

I will not address the rest of your post as you clearly have no clue as to what you are referencing.

Just more drama queen fanboy rhetoric :rolleyes

Do us all a favor and r e a d slowly and carefully so as not to stick your foot in your mouth again :lol

Wow, really? I, and I'm sure at least a few people who deal with the company would really like to know if you are speaking (as you seem to be trying to with your communication regarding delays) for Bryan and eFX with that tripe - customers are acting spoiled and childish if they expect product delivered when they're told it will be delivered? We aren't discussing some charitable organization or freebie, or something else being demanded by over-entitled jerks, you're talking about paying customers throwing down a thousand bucks at a minimum. You're really sure you want to take that tack? How about 'are we there yet, are we there yet...you HAVE MY MONEY.' Sheesh, you might just want to check and see if eFX want s you posting that stuff.

As to your points about you addressing the reasons for the delays and the reasons for no communication, as someone pointed out, that's nice - it should be coming from the company, not some maybe-sorta-kinda-connected yahoo. And trust you, they're well aware of all the threads taking issue with the delays and poor communication? Soooo...what you're saying is that they're spending time lurking on boards rather than actually writing a two sentance update in a mass-mailer? Again, if you want to be as good a friend to the company as you seem to be, maybe you need to check to see if you're posts are actually helping or hurting.

All I'm saying... You NOW have your answer as to why they are so late.

So... What are you wanting?

An update to the page that says, expected shipping: Q??? 20??

Yes, please. :)
That plus actually meeting the date this time.

An explanation or status would be appreciated too. Especially after missing the second deadline, 5 months ago. But at least a date estimate.
I think a lot of people would be satisfied to wait until the new deadline.

Thank you for being honest and further illustrating and validating my post

That, my friend, is a fair question.
No, I've never bought anything from them...directly. I did buy two of their items but it was through two of their distributors once they had the items in hand. Have I ever pre-ordered from them? Heavens no.

First, I want to point out you quoted the wrong member. It was my post you quoted not apollo’s.

I do not represent eFX. My involvement with them is as follows: I own exactly one product of theirs that I bought on the secondary market and one pre order item.

The points I posted were either from Bryan himself or a trusted source (I honestly don’t know if the member is an official eFX employee or not…based off the level of info, I think he is on the payroll).

I'm not saying you're acting like a spoiled brat for expecting your product or update. Say it to once, twice, three times...I'd say you're an upset customer with some legitimate concerns. Say it to a thousand times and AFTER updates/communication has been made…well, that’s when I start checking my backseat for my kids.

Yes...and I'm lucky that this is the answer to your posts question as well h3pilot. Two birds with one stone.

The fact that this is even brought up means there is a problem on EFX's end. They should read this thread and others related and take notes so they can improve how they communicate. No-brainer really. They can do a small adjustment and eliminate the issue all together. Just good business. Leaving it up to others to defend them is not the way to handle the situation, it is all on them to try and fix the issue. Leaving it to others does nothing but create bad blood between people as you can see here.

Doug

Guys, this is going down the slope. Please don't bash each other on this. [read my above quote in bold] There is an issue (not fabricated), otherwise it wouldn't have come up at all. I think EFX got the message (or will if they read this thread), and we will see if they took notes to address the situation moving forward. Smacking down legitimate concerns is not going to extinguish the problem. I think we all want/need EFX to succeed and I think this topic is just a nudge to let them know they need to improve in this area -- call it a note in the suggestion box. How could there be a down side to addressing this concern for EFX?

Mods, I think the point was made and nothing else can come from this thread but more bad blood. Might want to consider a lock down before any casualties occur.

Why just leave it open these threads pop up every other month it seems with the usual temper tantrum fan-boy rhetoric.:unsure

No what you need to do is get to that film studio and take some Pics! ;)

Give my regards to Popeye if you see him! :lol

:lol

I swear, within the next week I'll go, and then post some pics of the "Raise the Titanic" model in that thread.

Promise :):thumbsup

I keep seeing a couple folks mentioning "updates" from eFx that seem to come from posts from other forums by some third party.
I don't consider a post from "StarWarsFan 123" in the "I love Star Wars forum" that Bryan told him that the TIE was coming a long nicely, as an update from eFx.

I consider an official update from a company to be something posted on the company web page, a direct email, or a letter from the company.
Is that way off base??

Great post brother. :thumbsup

Not off base, but a bit demanding. When an employee of the company posts an update, guess what? That makes it official.

You know I love ya Man!

Hey if you see olive oyl hanging around try and get some racy photos for me! :D

We really have gotten off topic, even me LOL.

It seems that the answers to "would you pre-order" are quite varied.
Everything from "no, not from any company, ever" to "yes, and I don't care how long it takes or if eFx won't update me".

I guess I'm kind of in the middle. I just wondered where my feelings were compared to others.

Off topic:
I don't expect eFx to scour forums to hear my opinion or answer my questions.
I try to contact them directly.
I don't think blasting or defending a company in a forum will change the company.
Blasting each other certainly won't.

Please try to be respectful of each other.

No complaint from me if this thread is locked, since nobody seems to be commenting on the topic anymore. Someone can start the "Why I Love/Hate company____" thread. LOL!

My question as a customer is, which forum am I supposed to monitor for an update?
Which employees are authorized to speak for the company?

It isn't that I don't believe a post directly from Bryan. How am I supposed to know it is there?
