Wolverine all day baby! Jackets, belts, claws, oh my.

I wished I could find a brown jacket like the one Hugh wears in the scene in the credits. I also want to find the footage for Days of Future Past that was showed at Comic Con. I'm so excited for that movie!

Also, there is a "V" or "U" design on the tips of the feathers that you can see in many of the original photos. I personally thought it looked better with the headband left brass (it looks like shiny gold which balances out the visual weight of the headdress and makes the face seem bigger). It looked to me more antique and not over-painted that way. One other thing a lot of other people do is use a glossy finish. All that gloss takes the antique, worn-in look away. I used some Krylon Matte Finish and it worked great.

As for Devilstrap's aged look, it came out better than mine but he also had a more detailed mold of the buckle. That affected the crevices the black wash would seep into. Gotta get one of those Indiana Metal Craft ones!

The "V" or "U" on the feathers is probably because I think the buckle used in the movies wasn't the 70s mold but a cheap knockoff instead. One of those heavily outlined, paint-by-numbers buckle you see on ebay. At least from what I've seen in xmen promotion pics.

The buckles in the movies were the inverted versions everybody has here. The reason being is so that the features in the buckle wouldn't be stabbing into the stunt people and actors themselves.

Thanks bub. The buckle I own must've been painted incorrectly by the previous owner. I purchased the buckle back in 2009 just a few months after the movie was released already pre-painted. S'funny... I didn't realize the headband was green on the Hot Toys Buckle at first... No blue at all though...
 
One thing that kept going through my head when I started putting together my wolverine costume was I didn't want to mirror it exactly. I wanted a bit of "me" in it. To me, the brass headband looks better. Also, the belt I'm using is different and so is the shirt. My jacket is close, but the orange/yellow bottom part doesn't go all the way around and I think it looks better. I'm definitely not interested in being a clone, but you guys have a huge attention to detail. I love this thread!
 
Drummertist, I'm all for personalizing costumes! Find what works for you, tweak what you prefer and go for it. Every costume I build I aim for accuracy, but there always seems to be something that bugs me about the original, so I'll change it to something I like better.
 
So I have wondered why it looks like a reverse mold of the regular buckle. It looks pretty strange that way. It doesn't make much sense to me that they did it on purpose so that the buckle wasn't poking the stunt guys. It is just the edges and size of the buckle that would do that.
