Tron Legacy Costume

excellent work everybody on your suits! :)

thought i'd chime in with some movie costume news. for those in the area you can take a closer look at original costumes from the movie. they're on display for a limited time. i have yet to see them in person. this blog has taken plenty of pics for those who can't get there:

Hollywood Movie Costumes and Props: Original Tron Legacy movie costumes and props on display... Original film costumes and props on display

many of the pics remind me of the ones used in elecTronica with the cw-x gear and all.

Wow, great pictures... looks like the one costume is Jem's, but the other must be a "citizen" or citizen. Thanks for the link!

Awesome!!!! Those SIREN Gem costume pics will help me so much with my build for that costume. Oh and I am going with reflective tape on that one. Gonna take awhile for me to recover after all that Quorra light up work build ;)

Pretty darn good. Balancing brightness is a tricky part with EL. I have the opposite problem with EL sheeting. I have tons of it on my costume and it slurps battery juice like a vaccum. One day I'll just be lazy and stick my finger in a light socket.

Justin, by the way you were right about the TRON font. I didn't think the '3' was drawn that way on the back of Flynn's right leg until I froze a frame of the Derezzed video and took a close look at the 'scoreboard'.

Awesome! Interesting how the "4" looks different than the font I sent you. I like them both. I just might keep mine old school style. ;)

6 DAYS and counting!!!!

just thought it might be worth noting... based off of past history, i have a feeling that there could be prop and costume displays at the el capitan when tron legacy is released. they have done similar things with other disney movies like pirates 2 and 3.

5ft long 1in PVC Pipe, 1.25in PVC End Caps (total length 5ft 4in), Black Tape wrapped and UV Reactive Gaffer's Tape (green).. total cost, about $7.50

Nice, but isn't your suit in a BLUE-light color, gams001 or have we decided to change colors to match the staff or is this just for experimenting?

You find me the Aqua UV Tape and I'm sure to stick with one color. :)

Sadly, that color is no easy to find item..

So I started considering something when I went through the comic of TRON:Betrayal. Since ISOs have varied source programming, their 'colors' are not set. My character is well over 600 Cycles old, so he would have colors that varied by his function at the different times of his 'life'. Hence his prime color of Aqua-Blue armor, with a Darker Blue Robe and Greener Staff. (a stretch, but hey.. you make up a better reason) :rolleyes

If I can get this paint to adhere to the tape on the staff, you get this color which is a bit more cyan and thus closer to the armor color..

As I re-read over bays overdriving the inverter issue. Not quite sure if I agree about only being able to hook up less than 6 meters of El Wire to a 12V inverter.

My inverter for instance runs on 12V (8 AA) but it is designed to power up to 35 feet of wire. Not sure exactly how his inverter got fried but it has me a little concerned if that same thing can happen to me? I will be driving around 35 feet of wire to one driver. Hmmmm maybe I will stick two drivers in my project box now. Just in case. If anything, doing this will give me more brightness dividing all that wiring up to be powered. Just will have 16 AAs stuck to my back instead of the 8.

I read wrong or is this the Aqua Glow tape from Glowtape?

Sorry if I missed something here, but i see this very bright.

We refer to that as 'power creep'. I'll have the same setup, with a couple of 9V inverters to power the waist and legs. My only saving grace is that the BMX body armor has a spine protector on the back of it, which will shield me if one of my inverters goes. It also allows me to mount that many batteries and inverters to my back in the first place.

I'll throw up a couple of pics later. I'm busy with wire management. :p

I actually shouldn't have a problem using my one driver to power all my el wire. My el wire corset I wore to ElecTRONica has 50 feet high bright white. Was fine the whole time I was there. Completely brain farted and forgot about that. I guess the driver I have powers up to 50ft.??? Really don't remember I have had it for 5 years now. Coolneon.com is a great store! Plus use the code JRS when you check out and get 10% off your order.

Awesome!!!! My IPhone weather app. says it's gonna rain in L.A. this Friday!!!!! Uggghhhh! It better not. I definately can not wear my costume in the rain. :(

Rain? You should get one of these since it will match your costume :D

Now THAT'S cool! :lol If it rained, i'd TOTALLY use one of those :'D

**********. I just gave up on my costume since the ELwire won't work :cry I can't turn it on (What's weird is that last week it worked PERFECTLY.)
I'll just wear my Flynn Lives shirt and hang my identity disc on my back for the premiere :c

I ran 9ft of Hi-Brite ELWire on my 12v Sound Driver.. no heating at all with over 2 hours of run time mixed constant-on and sound-reactive. :confused

Hi everyone!

I've been lurking here for a while and am almost finished with my Quorra costume for the midnight showing! One question though for those of you using reflective tape as I am (one day I'll have money for El wire--ugh! So jealous). I'm finishing up the circle designs in the tape and can't get it to stop puckering and bunching or looking really angular. The tape I'm using is about 1 inch thick. Any suggestions?

Also all of you Bay Area people what showing are you guys going to? I have to work until 9:30 Thursday night (so I can't make it if it's super far) and I'm in Palo Alto...anyone close by?
