Hi everyone, so I am one of the original commenter's on this thread when it started back in 2010 with Tron Legacy, I created my Quorra and Siren light up cosplays. Now, with the 3rd installment of the franchise Tron Ares coming out in October 10, 2025, thought I would revive this thread and see if anyone is contemplating on making any cosplays from the movie? There aren't make photos from the movie online that I have found so far, so I am considering creating a Tron Ares inspired cosplay. So far from what I have seen the suit armor lighting is red and the discs are triangular this time around. Hopefully in time more info. will be released to understand the background as to why triangular shaped ID discs are used for this story.
Any way, since this thread was originally for Tron Legacy, should I create a new Tron Ares thread? Or incorporate Tron Ares costuming in this existing thread? Your thoughts.
Soulinertia - new triangle ID disc shape kits in the near future possibly? your Legacy disc kit is the best!
I look at the opportunity to pass on costume pieces as my way to move to my next project without feeling I am just going to store these older items and never use them again. But that is my personal outlook based on my inability to stay on one fandom for very long. For me it is always about the next challenge and working with other fans in the convos. This new announcement has my interest for sure.
I'd guess the triangle shaped design is simply esthetics, not anything that they intend to explain. Probably comes from the costume designer and they went with it because they liked the look. I wonder if that's only that character that has a triangle on their back. It might not even be an identity disc that's removable and tossed around, but I don't know. I haven't seen much from the film yet.
My daughter turns 6 in October and recently watched TRON Legacy with me on one of my semi monthly rewatches. She absolutely wants an outfit to wear when we go see Ares. Like my first, they'll just be original designs that light up, but now I have several years of crafting experience so things should go much smoother this time around hehe.
