They will replace my paint with one that glows blueish!!
will update you as soon as I receive it (sometime next week)

I also have ANOTHER paint (which is a fabric paint)
that was also listed as WHITE but glows GREEN

This paint glows WAYYYYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyy longer than the other paint.

I will be exchanging it for the BLUE paint of the same brand.

IS ANYONE GOING TO THE NEW YORK CITY HALLOWEEN PARADE IN TRON COSTUME??

it would be awesome if we can get the whole cast from the movie for a photo shot!!

reply if interested

(i will be quorra)

Not in NYC but I will be in West Hollywood for Halloween in tron if anyone else lives in the LA area and is planning to go. GREAT IDEA!!! Hope to see some of you out there.

Identity disc done. Magnets glued in and paint finished. Yes it glows green, but there are places where a little blue shines through.

No. I havnt gotten the glow paint yet. That's just green artists ink. The LED's inside light up and make it glow green. I plan on putting a top coat of glow paint when it comes in.

AWESOME! please post as soon as you do :D

also, what character will you be?

actordiver, that is awesome my friend! So you only used ink to color the transparent light up parts?

I won't be going to west Hollywood, it's too crowded for my taste, I am instead going clubbing. Though I think us in LA should get together for a photoshoot.

Costume Update:

Don't try to solder anything on the EL sheets, word of warning. ;)

Burned a hole right through it. I used a strong epoxy and it worked like a charm. I can glue electrical wiring direct to the sheet, which solves the alligator clip problem. I am going to be cutting the leg and thigh designs tomorrow. With any luck I should have some photos by Sunday night. Hopefully 1 inverter on each leg should power all the designs on my lower body.

Yeah, I've closely read your progress thread (which is amazing, btw). I'm considering the EL tape from Light Tape. I sent a few emails to them and they said it would be about $400 for a full costume and they offered custom cutting services (which I'm sure will cost an arm, leg, and kidney). A sample of 2" x 1' tape in white with a 9V DC power supply costs $40. I may get one to play with and see what I can do with it before investing in a full costume order.

Yeesh. This is by far the most complex costume I've ever considered... and I'm starting to seriously question my sanity. Haha!

I am pretty sure you can buy a 1.25" x 12" strip of EL Tape for $15 a foot by itself. Is the the same as you have, where you can cut it? Different than Light Tape?
12"x1.25" EL panel/tape/backlight with lead wire and connector

Will do. Funny thing I just got it in the mail today. (probably should have checked the mail earlier ;) )

No particular character. When I make costumes I like to incorporate my own design as if I was a character in the movie (maybe that's the actor in me) Being green puts me either as a "virus" or "military" So my "character" is a SCUBA Program for a dive computer. And of course I'm a good guy who fights with the user programs. ;)

Yep it is transparent enough to still let the lights shine through.

I agree WeHo will be crowded but I have friends who live a few blocks away so we party at their place then walk down then party some more. Always a great night.

and I agree about the picture, maybe for the actual premiere we could go to the arclight or something at midnight? Not quite sure what my plans are for the movie. First things first...costume and Halloween!!!! :D

Yeah, sucks when you cant solder directly!! BUT AWESOME you found an epoxy that will work. I had to buy special "silver epoxy" EXPENSIVE, but it also worked like a charm. Can't wait to see your results!!!! Keep up the great work, 2 weeks to GO!!!!!

Here are some pictures of my disk after glow paint. The first one is just the glow by itself (2 coats) the second one is while I'm pressing the light activation button (why its blurry) It's not super easy taking pictures in the dark with no flash, but you get the idea. I like it much better when the lights are activated.

So the paint I got, I think is different than you guys. Mine didnt come with any led light but they say its the brightest glow you can get. here is the website: Ultra Green v10 Glow in the Dark Paint -

Just know that it comes in a nail polish like bottle with included brush in the cap, and SMELLS like nail polish (open windows!!!) After you paint, it give the surface a sandy texture (like sand paper) so I think I'll put a few coats on it and then spry a sealer over it too. Not super thrilled with the results but it's all a learning experience.

While I was digging around for TRON photos I came across this hoodie that has NOT yet been made. They are waiting for people to vote. I think it would be really great to have this available just to lounge around in or maybe to go to a party without having to get into full costume.
Please vote if you can, here's the link:

SAM's baton is on the RIGHT THIGH. It IS longer than Quorra's. I bought the toy baton which is 15 inches long..so about a 1 foot. it is WAY too long to be put on the bottom half of the foot (between ankle and knee), but fits perfectly on the thigh, which validates that it is the baton for SAM. I can sell it to you since I have no use for it if you need one [more info below]. QUORRA's baton is DEFINITELY on her LEFT leg between the ankle and knee, and it lies on the OUTSIDE of the boot. It is probably about 6 inches long. it is ATTACHED to the boot by a small ring-like strap... similar to a knife holster (the kind that is a loop not the kind that has a bottom).
The main differences between SAM'S and QUORRA'S baton are: size (sam's is 2x as big as quoarra's)

and capabilities (sam's shoots out a light cycle while quorra's shoots out a sword) i am not 100% sure if this last one is true, but it seems so from the pictures available

BATON: (cost about 17.99, it was more with the shipping) it comes w/ a light cycle that goes inside and then gets released. I have to warn you the baton does NOT light up even though it might look like it does from pictures online. I can sell it for $18.00, that would cover the baton+shipping.. well really I'm not going to charge shipping because the baton is no longer in the original packaging since I had to open it to check it out. It has never been used otherwise.

This is a compression shirt that I'll wear under my jacket, front and back. More retro style to the original movie.

i dont need to buy it
they have them at the disney store near my house

i dont know if they are even making a toy one for Quorra
but the deal with the Batons in the movie is they can make it anything from a light cycle to an umbrella
its a pretty nifty thing really

it seems like all the toys and merchandise for TL are all geared towards Sam Flynn. I see no action figures, identity disks and yeah no baton for Quorra out there so far. That sucks, I at least wanted to get a Quorra baton so I wouldn't have to go thru making my own. Oh well, here I come again craft foam, cardboard and paint :p
