The Video Game Thread - anything and everything...

Been playing Kingdom Hearts 3....finally. Pretty good so far. Quite a lot to do in it.
A bit overwhelming of how many different attacks there are to use.

I just bought some game called Starlink Battle for Atlas for my Switch. It comes with StarFox’s Arwing and you hook it to the controller and can change its weapons around.

It looked cool and was on sale, so what the heck.

I played the Anthem VIP Demo. I wasn’t feeling the gunplay. Loose and not very accurate, definitely a BioWare game.

I’ve been really contemplating “retiring” from online play in games. My main co-op guy has turned into a family man and rarely plays any more, so it’s just me by myself playing Destiny with ransoms that I don't truly want to communicate with, so it just loses a lot of its luster. I also feel like I’ve missed out on some pretty awesome single player games because I was always playing online with a friend.

Been playing Wargroove about four hours now. Love it, just like the old Advanced Wars games with a new fantasy setting.

Also a new Days Gone teaser

You’ve still got a lot of story left, then. :)

Oh, I know. I'll get back to it this weekend and finish it too. I had just started it when I had to stop but then had it spoiled for me. Even though I know where it goes, I can't wait to play it. I really think this is becoming my favorite video game. Even RDR 1, as good as it was I've never played through more than once. This already I want to start over and play again. I didn't speed through it or anything but I will slow it down and enjoy it even more the next play through.

I haven't played a "new" game in I don't know how long. I think it might have been FFIX on PS. Or was that PS2? I don't remember.

I ordered a used copy of Star Wars Battlefront from Amazon. The original Xbox version.

I'm playing through Homefront: The Revolution again while waiting for the new Far Cry to come out.

I spend all my gaming time on Stardew Valley now. It’s a really casual way to de-stress for me

You should also try Graveyard Keeper. It's a clone of Stardew Valley, nearly the same graphics and near identical gameplay and equally addictive. I've been playing both games, but Wargroove has been my current addiction the last week.

Also, after a week delay, Hong Kong Massacre finally up on the PSN store.

Anybody played the Private Beta for The Division 2?
Similar but different. Think there's going to be parts people won't like that have been changed but certainly feels a much bigger game (not just map wise but interior buildings scaling several stories high.

I just couldn't take how the difficulty was increased by making it where you just had to dump 250 rifle rounds into a guy with a hoody and a crow bar.

As someone who shoots frequently in their off time and for a living, Division 1 frustrated me to no end with all the "mag dumps" to drop an enemy. I continued to play it out of sheer stubbornness than any real enjoyment. A "tactics based, cover shooter", just doesn't work well for me as an MMO, on a logical/ethical stand point. Mostly, it's the weapons balancing for same caliber weapon systems(all 9mm, 5.56, etc should do same damage across the board, no matter what rifle you have). That and Dark Zone...shenanigans as well as difficulty drove me away from the game.

yea, a cover based game where they did more with low accuracy, and stats that helped your agent handle the adrenaline rush of combat, automatically use proper firing technique (like holding down the trigger to fire would start to use bursts to get maximum accuracy, instead of just hosing bullets like it would with a low stat), etc etc, would have made it better. just skinning a magical sword and board game with different guns doesn't work.

So we have a Borderlands 3 trailer now:

The original Borderlands has been remastered for modern consoles as well and is available digitally. I just picked it up on PS4. Also Borderlands 2 and the Prequel have had a graphics patch that upscales pretty much everything.

Sekiro dropped a little while ago and I love it.

We are also getting a new Samurai Shodown game June 27th as well.

If someone buy's the "world war z" game post asap, man oh man the commercial's make it look friggin awesome!! I am just hoping the game has a good story, etc. I loved the movie!! (y)

I've got World War Z downloading now because I couldn't find any physical copies for sale; but on my connection it probably won't be done until Friday. It's getting decent reviews and plays very similar to the Left 4 Dead games.

In other news, the PS5 sounds like it's going to be pretty spectacular, especially with backward compatibility. I've started my savings fund to get one when they come out.

I'm still holding my breath that Nintendo will be releasing a Switch Pro version late summer early Fall as many analysts are speculating.
