The Mandalorian (TV series)

I could be wrong, but the markings on that X-Wing looked like Luke got promoted to Red (or Rogue) Leader.
But, weren't those the same guy? Of course they're both Red 2. I thought Luke's wing markings looked like Red Leader (no stripes to the trailing edge of the wings.)
Good eye! That wouldn't necessarily be wrong, because Luke had founded Rogue Squadron and was Rogue Leader, at least during the battle of Hoth. I think that Wedge was Rogue Leader only when Luke wasn't around.
Luke is the Group Commander -- of Rogue Group (never called squad in ESB, and the word squadron never shows up in any of the OT or PT). Wedge got promoted to Red Leader after Yavin. Luke still flies Red 5 in ESB and ROTJ, it's still Red 5 in TLJ and TROS... and here. I went back and checked after first viewing because I also couldn't tell at first. Also, Red Leader has one red hatch-mark on the wing trailing edges.

I know fans are loving Luke showing up but ....

I can't unsee it.

As a kid I always used to play with my rulers in school. I used to bend them then back, bend more then back, kind of to see how much I can bend it. I always snapped them in the end. That's how it feels to me. I really liked the 1st season. 2nd season I enjoyed, plenty of times I was like, ah no, this is gonna go off the rails, but then they stopped juuuuuuuuuust before. This finale snapped it for me.
Not only did we get the fanboy-jerking mirror of the R1 Vader scene, in the end barely anything of real consequence happened in this series, there were hardly any stakes at the climax, no sacrafice and a character from outside the series stole the show. I really liked the first season because it kept itself to its own story and characters. As said before, this series was a vehicle to set up 4 new series.
I'd also like to meet the person who stepped away from the monitor looking at the CGI Luke and said "yup that looks good". I have mad respect for Doctor Sleep for not going down this route and I can't understand why didn't they cast Charles Dance in R1 as Tarkin with some minor facial prosthetics.
Ah well, was fun while it lasted.

I thought that Luke’s appearance was fan service, but still it was nice to see him looking cool rather than as a scary looking old man with eyeliner in the last Jedi.

To paraphrase the great Jodie Foster in Contact...they should have sent a poet for my post...

well done to everyone in this episode and season, all the way through to the end credits, impressed and not crying, just dust in the air from being indoors for a while

I still have a bunch of pages to catch up on here. But my immediate thought was that Din should have pulled the Razor Crest shift knob out of his belt and given it Baby Yoda as an endearing parting gift.

Someone else thought of that as well, that totally slipped my mind and would have made a wicked scene

Other mentioned maybe that will be used in the future as some kind of mechanic?

Sure would have been touching to see that..

Ok first I have to say that compared to the videogame Darktroopers, these suck visually. I thought maybe it would get better if those were Phase I or II, but then they say they are three and aren't suits. I also don't think a droid could batter a blast door down when a lightsaber even takes a while to cut through. Not to mention they were supposed to be built with metal that was lightsaber resistant, so they shouldn't have been able to be defeated that easily, but Disney...

On the surprise visitor...
It doesn't make a lot of sense for Luke to show up when he won't even show up to help ANYONE in the Sequel movies, even his family, until it's too late. We're supposed to go "Wow Luke's so cool!!!" and then you remember the Sequels and how he doesn't fulfill his purpose and Grogu is now probably going to get killed by Space Emo Kylo Ren. Not to mention we don't know why Luke showed up unless what they did with Grogu on that Jedi planet allowed Luke to follow him. Anyway it seems like someone trying to do Luke Skywalker damage control.

Anyone else think it's funny that Temuera Morrison was interviewed over the last couple weeks saying he was wondering when he would get a call to be in SW again and Lucasfilm is like "Oh yeah we remember you! Here's your own show!"?

So, to be fair, lol, if he was being interviewed in the last few weeks, he already had the show. lol

And he was just white knuckling it through those interviews like "Lord baby *****, don't let me slip up and say anythin that will make the mouse cancel ma show. Want that Disney Mando money."

Yeah I thought about that after everything else sat in my stomach and was like..."AND ANOTHER THING!"

Luke came in and sucked all the oxygen out of the room and the only thing we had left were plot holes strewn about.
