Perhaps this is from the first chapter? Film him so the rest can "copy" his mannerisms..

Since when have we cared who was wearing a costume, and for how long? Pedro is playing the Mandalorian. Does that mean he may just be providing the voice? Yes, that's possible. I don't think it's likely, but it's possible. Does it mean he's in EVERY scene that doesn't require a stunt? Probably not; but nearly every actor uses boddy doubles and stuntmen.
They have a character that always wears a face cover, why on EARTH would they not take advantage of that in making production easier when it was helpful. And why would people care?

Interesting. It is mesmerizing why some choose to nitpick some aspects of recent times Star Wars stories. Its not Pascal in the costume, bad acting, etc. Did the classic Star Wars had stellar acting in them? No. For example, I have nothing against Mark Hamill but please. The guy's acting was average, mediocre at times! He is a great voice actor but his performance in films....not so great. Yet it is conveniently ignored by some critics. Did Prowse voiced Vader. No. Hos voice sounded pretty ridiculous so Mr Jones provided his, now legendary, voice performance. Nothing said by these critics either.
Star Wars has always been a complete experience. Something better than the sum of its part. A fun film for all ages. Never was intended to be a rival to Shakespeare. The Mandalorian puts all the checkmarks on the right places that made classic Star Wars what it is today.

I'm sure it's a mix. I mean it is Pascal after all and ever since GoT he's been in high demand, so I very much doubt this is the only project he was working on during filming for this. Especially if he had any idea how poor Disney Starwars has been going up until the release of this show. Guy's in all sorts of stuff lately and kills it in each role. I'm betting it was an instance of, when he was available/wanted to be in the suit he was in it, and when not available was filled in for with someone of similar build for what shots they needed, dubbing over as necessary. Which is basically exactly what they did during filming for the OT with various "no face" characters

For 40 years have I nitpicked Star Wars. My own council will I keep on what is to be nitpicked.
Seriously though, I agree. The show is the Mandalorian, not the Pascalian. I don't need to see his face, I just need to him do cool stuff.

I wanted to be clear... I've NEVER had a problem with this, as I said, being a Vader-type situation. I think it's maximizing the best of what all performers bring to the table.
I don't go into any of the other SW threads on here unless my curiosity just gets the best of me, & then I usually immediately regret it, basically because of the sheer amount of general doushery thrown around. I REALLY don't want to seem like I'm complaining, nitpicking, or disparaging the show at all & contributing to that atmosphere.

Are those Stormtrooper boots and a modified Imperial Officer belt? The joke being that, ironically, a New Republic guy has old Imperial gear, hence Bill Burr refers to him as "Our well dressed friend" ?
Or is there some deeper SW nerd guff going on here?

It may be, but I just took it as a dig at '70's fashion. All I could think of was Mr Furley from Three's Company wearing those blue, short sleeved, one piece, jumpsuits, with a white leather belt & matching loafers.

They are Stormtrooper style shoes. Burrs character didn't seem to care too highly about Stormtroopers even though he was an imperial. He's clearly pointing out they are Imperial Stormtrooper style shoes.

I immediately thought of Herb Tarlek.
I still love this series....which is weird as I had thought that not only was I supposed to be struck down by the gods with “Star Wars fatigue” but also that, as long-time “Star Wars” fan, I was also anhedonic and incapable of enjoying anything new in “Star Wars”.
Oh well, maybe they will both kick-in next week.

I think the blue uniform could be supposed to resemble those worn by the pilots of the Old Republic ship in the first scenes of Episode 1. In that, you see them only in two brief shots with different lighting making them look cyan in the first and dark purple in the second, but anyway.

I feel like Mayfeld was just ripping in military dress standards in general, not directly comparing his shoes and belt to a Stormtrooper. The New Republic was built on the efforts of a so called rag tag group of Rebels so it’s ironic that they’ve now fallen into impractical fashion choices after winning the conflict, kind of a “meet the new boss, same as the old boss” thing.

While that's possible that person may have actually BEEN a storm trooper. They could not just banish every person that worked for the Empire. You see a lot about how former Imperial people joined the New Republican in Alphabet Squadron. This also means they may have had to re-use a lot of their old equipment.

Agreed. Outfitting a Army/Navy is a lot of taxpayer $. Re-use what's available side of something like Stormtrooper armor which was a symbol as well.

I just took it to be a dig at how dressed up he was, for being the only crew member on an automated ship. The guy was essentially in a dress uniform, while doing the job of a long haul trucker, that doesn't even drive the truck.
Just gritty mercs picking on a pretentiously dressed POG before they killed him.
