The Mandalorian (TV series)

Just watched first 4 eps, meh...it’s cheesy. Reminds me of watching 1978 battlestar galactic series. Especially episode 4.

In what way "cheesy"?

The Mandalorian is actually at the moment the only show that I can watch that takes me places and lets me watch characters that I like and begin to care for.
In many many many current shows I find cynicism and tendencies of negativity taking over.

Mando is damn enjoyable, and what show at the moment can be called enjoyable in a way that it takes us really out of the day to day routines and makes ua forget about our worries? Most shows IMO deal with life threatening situations in one way or the other where the situation goes from bad to worse for the protagonists? Yes, you can see that happening in The Mandalorian as well, but here there is that glimmer of hope that everyone IS going to be okay, because you can trust in the characters abilities. I feel like a kid again who can believe in his heroes! The heroes do not have any flaws, the Mandalorian acts honorable. NO thinking about his weaknesses or shady morale! See episode IV to VI!

I actually do not need character driven TV shows in the Star Wars universe, I am fully content with a story that is plot driven or at least mostly plot driven.

Dude, If Borghive’s opinion is that he finds something cheesy, you don’t need to argue him or imply his opinion is wrong....

So true. The Netflix style series’s shows are so negative and many cases violent. They’re so boring.

I did not mean to "argue him or imply his opinion may be wrong" but simply inquired why he´d find the show cheesy. Since English is not my first language I sometimes may misunderstand or misinterpret a term. As far as I know "cheesy" is implying "of lower quality"- Quoting the "Urban Dictionary" "cheesy" can mean "Something that is overly cute, sweet, sentimental. In a positive way, yet over the top or trying too hard. " or the "Oxford English Dictionary" "cheap, unpleasant, or blatantly unauthentic", which I find less applicable than the explanation from the "Urban dictionary".

So I of course asked what in particular makes the show come across as cheesy to him. I personally can´t find anything unfitting for a Star Wars-TV show, or for an entertaining tv show in general. It may be the fact that in my opinion The Mandalorian so highly contrasts a lot of current trends on streaming services which IMO makes it so entertaining for me. I have had enough of gloomy and dark visions, I must say. I cannot enjoy "The Boys" for example because of the level of violence and negativity, I quit "The walking dead" and "The purge" and "The rain" and a few others because of the broody tone. I did enjoy "Titans" despite its high level of violence but currently am reluctant to watch "Doom Patrol" despite an earlier interest in the show.

I am simply interested in exchanging views and enjoy others opinion on various topics, trying to understand how they developed their personal views.

Thanks, that makes more sense.

I come from Wisconsin where cheese is a good thing. Calling something cheesy isn’t really a negative thing. But yeah, cheesy certainly means not to be taken too seriously.

Mandalorian this is the way.jpg

They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going without ever knowing the way?

I've been making that joke since it was first spoken in the show... to absolutely NO ONES amusement.

Has anybody already discovered who was the guy at the end of chapter 5 yet? Some say it was Boba Fett. It was never revealed, right?
No, but I'm still thinking Cad Bane. He would be a perfect fit (being based on Lee Van Cleef's "Angel Eyes" character from The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly) and a worthy adversary. Unless, that is, they are holding him back for the Kenobi series -- he did swear vengeance against Kenobi (but then, that might be a little too similar to the Rebels story with Maul going to Tatooine for the same purpose).

As far as who was at the end of Chapter 4, there's a possible toy leak that MAY explain who it is.

I need to be clear that this is ALL SPECULATION & NOT a spoiler-

In the LEGENDS books, Boba had a daughter, who became a bounty Hunter & actually chased him down after he walked out on her & her mom when she was a baby.

The images I saw showed the next few series of POP Vinyl figures, & one was an unnamed female Mandalorian in green armor, & she was wearing a cape. I'm wondering, since they seem to cherry pick what they want from LEGENDS, if they could be playing off the Fett's daughter idea? It would explain the spur jingling effect as 'she' walks up, to show the connection.

Just a thought.
