The Mandalorian (TV series)

Two things...

One of Din's group is a Vizsla. Given the Protectors' reaction to Sabine saying she was House Vizsla, I'm gonna guess they're not too popular in Mandalorian space during the OT era. Death Watch essentially split during the tail end of Clone Wars, with many siding with Bo-Katan and dialing back the extremism, and some sticking with Maul and going off to bust him out of prison. I feel like there had to be at least a few who felt stuck between those extremes... and just left. This group may be from that time.

The other thing is that, at the end of Rebels, Sabine is meeting Ahsoka on Lothal to go look for Ezra, and her narration is one of everything being hunky-dory. I figure at that time Bo has the darksaber, the Imps are off Mandalore, and she feels it's quiet enough to go on a personal quest. This series is about five years later. Perhaps the Purge happened in there, and -- from the dialogue -- Moff Gideon was involved. The group on Navarro could be survivors of that, or they could already have been off-planet and just heard about it. I figure we'll find out more further in. I don't expect contratictory lore, given Filoni's oversight on all three series...

I'm thinking that the lack of knowledge of the Jedi is attributed to a couple of things...

I think there was probably a severe crackdown on any & all favorable talk about the Jedi after Order 66. Families probably refused eventually to even speak of the Jedi. There wouldn't be anything said about them in the academic world.

That, combined with the way the Empire patrolled the Galaxy, you wouldn't speak openly about anything that could bring you, your family, even your planet, to the attention of the Empire.

Now that being said, I think it's odd that the Darksaber has been set up to be a symbol of power for the Mandalorian culture. The fact that the history of the saber began with the first Mandalorian to become a Jedi, if the saber is to be recognized as that symbol of power, then it doesn't make sense that anyone raised as Mandalorian, as important as their culture is to them, wouldn't know what a Jedi was, even as an enemy.

I do have faith in Favreau & Filoni's storytelling abilities & the depth of their lore knowledge, so I'm looking forward to them proving me wrong.

I don't like most people because,......well they're people but, she is awesome. At least she seems awesome. I was a huge Tales of the Gold Monkey fan and then I had to throw away my DVD set of the show after we learned what he was. Anyway, you never know but she seems awesome:

I really hope she is on the show more. They would be an awesome couple. I was hoping she and Nick Nolte would team up with him. I was so excited when they did and then it went bad. Anyway I hope she is in it more.

I agree, she seems like a delightful human. I will admit, I was not too keen on her initially. Like most athletes that want to make the jump to acting, I was side-eyeing her pretty hard, and in her early roles, she was just not that great. However, she seems to have taken a page from the Rock's playbook and started seriously learning how to act (let's be real, when he started out in movies, charisma in spades was mostly what the Rock brought to the table, but he has grown into a very capable, entertaining actor).

I enjoyed her in Deadpool, and I absolutely love her in The Mandalorian. Hell, I'd even go so far as to echo the sentiment I saw earlier and say that I'd like to see Cara get her own spinoff of the Mandalorian.

That would be cool but I want a Mando wedding. They would be a great couple and Imagine their baby.

What was up with Tales of the gold monkey?...I loved that show as a kid

There were some disturbing revelations about Stephen Collins in 2014.

He was recorded by his now ex wife admitting he sexually abused children. I had to here it myself to believe it.

I threw away my DVD of Star Trek the Motion Picture and my Tales of the Gold Monkey DVD set. I work with abused kids as a Special Education teacher and can't watch someone I know has abused children.

Sorry, did not mean to be a downer in the thread.

Back to fun. The Mandalorian has gotten me excited about props again. Although not perfect it is just a good show. I have been so disappointed in Star Wars post ROTJ it's nice to have something to look forward to again.

I am getting:

Beskar Bar

Baby Yoda Razorcrest knob

Mando Helmet

1/6 Mando 1st version

1/6 IG-11

1/6 Beskar Armor version (I assume they will do)

The pendant

His blaster

And that is just so far.

I really am Star Wars' bitch. Oh well, best to know who we are.

The only thing that confused me a bit was the Armorer telling Mando that the Jedi were ancient enemies.

I'm not 100% up on my Clone Wars and Rebels since it's been awhile since I've watched the former, but I thought the Jedi were considered allies of the Mandaliorians and helped liberate their planet?

Different periods of their history.
They've had more issues with the jedi than positive interactions and many of their weapons are specifically designed with Jedi in mind.

PM if you need to, but where are you getting the helmet? I'd like one but have no interest in giving money anovos or efx.

I was rewatching some episodes today & was wondering if anyone else noticed what I did...

It looks like that EVERY time someone does something to protect the Child, the director makes a special point to show that the Child witnesses the deed.

Let me amend that. Since we didn't actually see Kuiil die, we don't know all the details, but based on what we did see, I assume he was simply shot in the back by the blaster on the speeder bike. Although we know he was trying to escape with the Child, this may not count.

Anyways, it seemed to me that they're trying to set some establishing shots for some future purpose. Just wondering if anyone else had noticed.
